Besides the poor umping, what made it a shitty game?

It wasn't an all time classic, by any means, but it was a close game through 6 and a half innings. And having watched the Yankees hang a 4 spot on the Sox in late innings more than once in the 2nd half of the season to overcome deficits, it is not as if the Yankees were out of it.

The announcers kept discussing the bullpen as Boston's weak spot.

It turned out not to be as easily exploited as they suggested it might be, but that doesn't make it a shitty game.

Well pitched games from just one side can be...

Shitty.

In terms of competitiveness.

Better Nevin decision changes things?  Maybe.

By the way the more I think of it the more I wonder about Judges path on that play and if this was a case of player making coach look bad.

I also wonder if Gallo being up next was part of Nevin's thought process.

It turned out not to be as easily exploited as they suggested it might be, but that doesn't make it a shitty game.

That home plate ump was brutal early on with a strike zone seemingly determined by whim or coin flip.

Now as to it being a shitty game, that's just sour grapes whining.

Was it a classic? No.

But it was a 3-1 game in the 6th that had the good starting pitching (Evo) a CY candidate getting knocked around, and long-balls (X,  Schwarber and Stanton) and the Ys turning some double plays to keep it close and a memorable play at the plate.

We had the possibility of a classic 2nd guess on Cora pulling Evo.

And i haven't seen this elsewhere, but Boone pulled a Torre circa '03 last night. When he pulled Cole in the 3rd it brought to mind Joe T pulling  Roger in G7 ALCS when Roger didn't have it and after giving up another HR (4-0 Sox) Joe brought in Mussina to get out of a Roger jam. And in both cases '21 and '03) disaster averted with a K and double-play. Mussina's 3-inning work in that game probably saved the day until, ironically Boone took Wakefield deep, which ironically led him to manage the Yankees.

IMO last night had the stage, history, drama and enough good baseball with a 2nd guessing to make for a pretty entertaining night of baseball.

my 2 scents

Edit I watched ESPN but listened to EEI's radio call (Castig and McDonough-they do a great job are sound like baseball). The idiocy of sitting through AROD and ESPN's pre-planned narratives was not going to fuck-up my night.

I heard this earlier on a FaceBook page

It's utter nonsense.

If Judge reads the hit and cuts the bases like Bogaerts he likely scores.

kid does hot takes real well,, not so much on  facts.
Speaking of alternate universes if you haven't heard Sterling's 1st inning HR call-a "Stantonian" blast. Do yourself a favor, it's great listening.

I DO know things, Yankguy.  And I know what to look for.  Alex Rodriguez is stealing a check - and Vazgergian is allowing it.

We all know things.  But most of us know enough not to confuse opinion with fact.

I would bet that ESPN has run the numbers and that more people tune in because of ARod than tune out.

And he is less inane than many a sportscaster, for all that I readily grant he is inane.
