Pedro had every right to be in that game, but maybe Grady should have let Martinez take himself out - and risk his legacy that way.

heh

Price was hooked quickly - as was Happ - sign of the times.

Price was hooked quickly - as was Happ - sign of the times.

Price was getting killed last night, and Cora acted correctly to try and limit the damage. I've no problem with his decison. Joe Kelly kept them in the game.

And we've discussed Pedro endlessly.

A simple Google search of worst baseball managerial moves ever places Grady's fuck-up among the worst ever.

That you don't understand this is understandable.

Pedro had pitched 7 innings, and after a difficult 7th inning should have been pulled.

He shouid have been on the shortest of short leashs, but Grady left him in for 5 batters, the last four all hitting safely, a single and 3 doubles, tied game.

It was insane, only compounded by the fact the Sox had a pretty decent BP to protect the 3-run lead and get those final 6 outs.

Pedro's legacy is safe from Grady's managerial miscarriage, Grady's was not.

When the great are tasked to BE GREAT and it doesnt work out............ kill the manager/coach.

Its sports.  Pedro gave it up that day.  Makes him no less the hero.  Could just have easily have NOT gotten beat.

Now - about McMamara pulling Schiraldi........

Kid

Sometimes being contrarian is smart.

Sometimes its just plain stupid.

Pedro was spent in the 7th, giving up a HR, single, single, before ending the inning with a K.

He did his job, the tank was about on E, but he had a 5-2 lead.

But Little, despite having a tested BP ready, put Pedro in a position to fail by putting him out there again in the 8th.

And he gave up 4 hits to 5 batters in the 8th, including 3 doubles.

So to sum up, the last 9 hittters Pedro faced in the 7th and 8th went 7 for 9 off him.

Your fact-free defense of Little is almost uniquely contrarian,  and plainly on its face, stupid.

But you are free to believe whatever you like.

I stay with my ace at 5-2.  Into the NINTH - you have a case - but not with six outs left - and like with the 1986 Buckner situation - Red Sox fans' SURETY that we'd have won had Pedro been removed - is irrational.

Timlin and Williamson were ready and they did their jobs in that series.

Pedro stuggled to get out of the 7th but he did.

He was done. Tank was empty.

And everyone but Little seemed to get it.

But Little asked him for more when he had Tmlin and Williamson ready to go.

Ok, short leash time for Pedro, but 5 batters, the last 4 getting hits off him?

Thats just fucking crazy.

Like i said Google "worst manager decision" and while you're at it, google the definition of insanity.

Believe what you want.

Red Sox hitters will tell you they should have scored more than 1 run in innings 5-11 vs the likes of Mussina, Heredia, Nelson, Wells and a (supposedly) tiring Rivera.   And one really has to wonder - what the hell was Mariano doing in there up to 48 pitches?

heh

Rivera had only twice as a closer gone over 30 pitches in a postseason game (31, 32)....

All irrelvant if Grady did his job

Sox win probablity at the end of the 7th was 91%

if Grady used his BP, 9 out of 10 times, he wins the game, leading 5-2 after 7.

What was "his job"?

Who pitches the eighth and who closes?

Yanks were far the better team in 2003.

Sox took the proper steps for '04.  Still lost the division but on paper we were so much better in 2004.

Sox should win this year, as Yanks did in 2003.

kid

you suck at  supporting your positions.

Seriously, you're not very good at integrating facts and opinions.

Nor giving an honest count about your "predicting" prowess

But to give credit when credit is due, you're half-decent at changing the subject when you're hopelessly lost.

I knew you wouldnt answer

Yanks had Nick Johnsonleading off, then it was the heart of the lineup.

Give me the moves.

Most important - who closes?  Wakefield?

It wasnt a good bullpen that year.  Not sure why you remember it as such.
