Agree

seems dumb.

But a guy who earned 2 Silver Bats really should be a voter's option as AL MVP finalist.

I'd vote for Betts, but Martinez IMO is a worthy candidate

Joe Mauer calling it quits.

After his firsr 4-5 years seemed HoF was his destination.

But unfortunately a concussion changed his career and travel plans.

Always liked Joe Mauer.

And none too soon.

So, Jake DeGromme is handed a Cy Young, and he did not even have the most wins on his team!

Fucking joke. BBWAA is LOST!!!

But he probably has his name mispelled more often than any other candidate.

I probably would have gone with Scherzer than deGrom.

But congrats to DeGromme and the Ray's Blake Snell.

deGrom, Scherzer and Nola all faced the Sox this year, Sox won all 3 games, (all were 1-run games, only Scherzer took the L) and IMO Nola pitched the best game of the 3 NL starters.  He impressed me.

Without diving into numbers the way Kiid does, it strikes me that if these same voters were choosing in the AL in 2016, Verlander (or Kluber) would have gotten the nod over Porcello.

just took a quick look (real quick) at '16, and the #s for Porello/verlander/Kluber were all close, (ERA, ERA+, WHIP) with Verlander and Kluber having having more Ks (but also more walks) than Verlander, Porcello's record of "22-4" was noticeably better and a real differentiator.

Porcello's CY win sort of reminds me of Bob Welch over Clemens in '90. IMO Clemens was the best pitcher in baseball that year, but its hard to ignore 27 wins.
