Was Edgar on the list of players/managers/execs for this particular committee to vote YES on?

Not sure he was.  BELLE was - might better use him for your point.

These new committees will certainly slant toward the Hall becoming more inclusive.

Like I said - hate the fact the committees even exist, if you so choose.
Martinez is still on the real ballot.

Syndergaard to Yanks setting NY afire...

But out on the Bryce Harper sweeps. Still discussing Manny M.

And for the record, I'm not all that excited about the Yankees giving up Andujar and whoever else for Syndergaard, who has hardly been a paradigm of durability.  Though I guess this is another thing I can be convinced about.

How many of the other projected 149 major league starters is Syndergaard better than?

And three years control at probably 25 mil...

For Andujar and fluff?

I'd say he's one of the top 10 pitchers in baseball. I'd also say that he might not have the world's greatest mechanics and has been hurt each of the last two seasons.

Well...there you go

The  committee is opining that

A-  Baines was better than you all think

and

B -  the Hall should be more inclusive, especially in class.

And "we're" opining that A & B are wrong.

Happ(y) to be back?

The lefty and the Yankees are in serious talks about a return to the Bronx, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed, and the conversations appear to be nearing the finish line. The hangup is that Happ, 36, wants three years, while the Yankees prefer two.

The Post reported Tuesday night that the Phillies were gaining momentum in talks with Happ on a three-year deal.

It's not my money, but if I were the Yankees I'd give him the third year.

Sounds like Cashman upped his offer to 3 years.

Philles should go to 3 1/2.

Heard it. Wish he would have asked LaRussa this, especially after LaRussa referenced statistics.

Um, Tony, how do you feel about being in the HOF, when you had all those players who used PEDs? Was your winning percentage as a manager as good as managers who never had those types of players? And Tony, now that MLB is taking money for gambling operations, should Pete Rose be allowed into the Hall?

Bottom line, I have no issue with guys like Baines in the Hall of Fame, since it's always been a kiss-the-writers'-asses situation. Just ask Eddie Murray and Dick Allen.
