This Sixto Sanchez must be some arm.

At least a few publications feel Phils got hosed.

I feel sometimes when that one piece is dangling out there that fits so perfectly - that a slight overpay is just fine

So best of luck to young Mr Sanchez - if he is a Hall of Famer this doesnt mean Phils should not have acted.  Gonna hate seeing J T in that Phils lineup as Mets try to stack up.

He's 20. He's small. He's unproven. He's still a prospect.

Realmuto's going to make it easier to sign others.

NL East becoming best division in MLB?

That's certainly the conclusion I would come to after looking at the odds on the post right before yours!

Two AL East teams and one AL Central in the top three, followed by two NL teams not from the East.

Clearly, the NL East is the best division - low to no expectations!

Lots of people think that competition still creates valuable and the best form of entertainment. Guess you aren't one of them.

I think the problem here is that you are shifting the definition of "best" to whatever suits your argument at the moment. Normally, you mean the one that fields the strongest teams (more than one) - that could be expected to have the best record vs. other divisions.

But since that doesn't fit the NL East, you are choosing instead that competitiveness within the division is what you mean by "best." Good luck selling that definition outside of your own head.

You fail to recognize that 4 teams in that Division are projected to win 85 or more games. There is no other division rated as such. Therefore, it's the best.

That you can't handle that situation indicates your own weakmindedness, Professor Dimwit.

If those win totals are accurate (according to odds shark, Mets, Phillies and Atl are projected at 84 1/2) and the Nats projected at 87 1/2, (85.25 average)  The NL East may be the most competitive division.

But using the same source, the Sox are projected at 96 1/2, the Yanls at 95 1/2 and the Rays 84 1/2, or an average of 92.17 wins.

And using net projected wins (wins-losses) it appears the AL East is stronger.

Are 4 teams a few games over .500 "better" than 3 teams that won an average of 99 games last year? (108, 103, 90), and could do it again this year?

Beauty is in the eye...

I saw nothing with such a projection, Utley.

I saw odds of one sort presented. I saw odds of another sort projected.

If you expect me to guess which website you are using to base your assumption upon, you are welcome to do so, but it's a pretty dumb expectation.

National League
NL East
Team   Wins   Losses   Win %
Washington Nationals   90   72   0.556
New York Mets   88   74   0.543
Philadelphia Phillies   85   77   0.525
Atlanta Braves   82   80   0.506
Miami Marlins   65   97   0.401

Nope, not RotoChamp's.

Not FanGraphs:
https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=Standings

Nationals 91-71
Mets        85-75
Braves     82-80
Phillies     82-80
Marlins     65-97

They think the "best" division would be the NL Central - with their last place team only 9 games out! Far better than the NL East, whose Marlins are 17 games behind FOURTH!
Cubs   88   74   .541
Cardinals   86   76   .532
Reds   81   81   .503
Pirates   80   82   .495
Brewers   79   83   .487

Not the Sporting News, either:

Okay, Utley, I'll bite!

You clearly found one website that gave you the results you wanted. Which one was it?! And what makes it the gold standard on which you wish to hang your sanctimonious self-congratulatory ass?

I think 4 teams have a legit shot at the NL East.

I have seen Mets projected over 90 in some places.

And also to win the division

Should be a hot year indeed.
