Trout fishing in America-2019 edition

using cheese-steak as bait?

https://nypost.com/2019/03/06/angels-contact-mlb-about-harpers-possible-trout-tampering/

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Angels contacted Major League Baseball on Tuesday regarding Harper’s constant public recruitment of the Angels star, which might be a violation of tampering rules.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2823272-would-moving-the-mound-back-be-baseballs-worst-rule-experiment?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial

The idea seems pretty off to me, but I suppose if the unaffiliated minor league is willing to play along, they can do it and see how it goes.

I am more interested in how the robo-umps do on balls and strikes, tbh.

I just skimmed that article and probably missed the great rationales, but moving the mound back seems dumb and risky.

That was pretty much the author's take on it, too, and the reasoning for why resonated.

I remember first seeing Steven Wright in the early '80s at Ding-Ho. The guy cracked me up. He may have been on drugs back then too.

Why would a knuckleball pitcher roid up?

Why would a knuckleball pitcher roid up?

Because David Ortiz said it would help him heal.

interesting fact, it seems Steven Wright is the first Red Sox roster player to get a PED penalty.

here's a couple of sources for those who prefer facts to ignorance fueled by obsession

http://www.baseball-almanac.com/legendary/steroids_baseball.shtml

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Major_League_Baseball_players_suspended_for_performance-enhancing_drugs

if I counted accurately Phillies had 6 players suspended for PEDs.

Why would a knuckleball pitcher roid up?

Maybe a misinterpretation of what makes "small ball" an effective strategy?

Manfred and his gambling has an impact on the lineup:

Pete Rose belongs in the Hall.
