Troll gonna troll.

True, but I happen to agree with him about Buckner's treatment. It's just less uncommon than he would have us believe.

Most people think Buckner was unfairly scape-goated.

But the troll looks for any excuse to exercise his sick obssession.

In this case he is using and abusing Buckner to satisfy his disease.

The troll's pathetic.

Billy did choke.  This is not to be debated.  The issue is how he was initially treated.

Like BARTMAN, I'd say.

Sad.

He had to move his family from Boston. Very sad.

Even Ralph Branca didn't have to leave NY.

But we are getting the soft peddling of the abuse he suffered from the usual source of all lies here.

Not sure why he feels he has to defend all his Boston brethren.

He has trouble with the truth. Compulsive liars often do.

gorge/puke/gorge/puke.

the dietary habits of the troll.

Troll-I didn't lie.

I said that Buckner signed as a FA with the Sox in '90.

And that the vast majority of fans had no problem with him.

ALL TRUE.

He received a standing ovation opening day at Fenway 1990.

Most baseball fans understand the nature of the game.

But some like you are clueless assholes.

Unfortunately he became a media symbol for fucking-up and some fans in Boston and nationwide targeted the guy.

He didn't deserve the bullshit.

ALL TRUE.

Apparently, Buckner's not the only one who was afflicted by dementia.

It's extremely well documented how Buckner was ravaged by RSN. And unjustly so.

No amount of denial on your part will change that fact.

"Buckner had no idea how his life would change after that single stupid play. Indeed, before Tom Brady was the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time), Bill Buckner was The Goat, instantly ushered into the Mickey Owen/Fred Snodgrass/Bonehead Merkle pantheon of baseball fall guys.

“I don’t think it ever entered his mind at the time that he was going to have to wear this for the rest of his career,’’ Hurst said.

Infamy stalked Buckner. Jokes and replays. Over and over.

When he was released by the Sox the following year, he said, “I think everybody in this town, including the Red Sox, holds that against me. I think I deserved better. I don’t think it has to be brought up the way it was.’’

Buckner played for two teams after leaving Boston but came back for a final season in 1990, slugging his way onto the squad out of spring training. He got a huge ovation when he was introduced before the home opener. It was his final season in the majors and it was brief (22 games). He retired at the age of 40 and became a minor league hitting instructor.

But the grounder followed him into retirement. In 1993, Buckner got into a dustup with a wiseguy fan outside of Pawtucket’s McCoy Stadium. A week later, he abandoned baseball and moved his family to a ranch in Meridian, Idaho."
----Dan Shaughnessy, quoted from the Boston Globe

He never was "forgiven" until the Sox won without him, and brought him in to throw that first pitch in 2008.

If the Sox had continued to fail to win the World Series, he'd most likely have never been "forgiven".

Funny word to use for a guy who actually didn't even cost them the game, let alone the Series.

But then, that's the typical Boston fan for you. He knows all the ins and outs of the games, without ever having actually played one.

Talk about dementia.

Those were Rangers.fans.

We could talk about Dick Allen if you want. But this is the point: Some fans of every team are ignorant assholes. Sometimes, for every team, en masse. Which is why it makes no fucking sense at all to seriously criticize one team's set of fans for behaving the same way your team's fans do.

Then you're off topic.

We can talk about that, though.

Should we talk about how the refs had to keep the Browns in the opposite end of the field from those Dawgs in order to okay their last home game before moving to Baltimore? Or the
LeBron James saga of we love you, we hate you, okay, you're alright, that's it, I'm burning my jersey, again?

Boston has a long history of scapegoating, ala Grady Little, Buckner, Juan Nieves, Chili Davis, Dick Williams, Bobby Valentine, John Farrell, Joe Morgan, John McNamara, Kevin Kennedy....do we have time for this list? And space?

In fact, they do it so often, it should be the name of their team. The Boston Scapegoats.

Sad group of "fans".

It's not like they made an entire Oscar nominated movie about what psychopathic assholes Philadelphia fans are, or anything.

Dick Allen has a smoke bomb for you.

J. D. Hammer.

Throws 97. First appearance retired Yellich, Moustakis, and Braun...1,2,3.

We will see how he does, but the Phils may now be the only MLB team to ever have a player named Hammer and another who sported the monicker...wait for it... "Nails".

JD's got as nice resume to go with the killer name.  I could see him as their closer in time.
