Could be the Red Sox lack leadership from the player front as well.

We will need to wait and read the book some Boston scribe likely pens on the lost season

Cora's troops would still be 5 games back had they won 5 of 6 Cashner games.

Maybe AC knew the season was lost anyway so continues to go with the big stiff.
