90% of the Sox problem this years is pitching.
Betts (now) has a 5 WAR and still one of the best all-around players in the game. Comping him to last year is almost unfair. He had a historically great year in '18.
Tendi has had on ok year, could use more power, and i suspect it will come, but offense is not the sox problem.
They started the year with no closer or set-up guy, and we know the risk, but the assumption was starting pitching was going to be a big advantage and it should have been with the starting 5.
But Sale/Price have been hurt and been inconsistent, Porcello has sucked, and Evo just off the IL and has been a non-factor, and only eddie has exceeded expecations, but he has been a big beneficiary of run support.
If Sale/Price had pitched anywhere near close to expectations (each ~ 17+ wins with 3.00/3.30 ERAs) the Sox would have been a lock for the post-season.
I don't blame Cora for Sale/Price.
I blame DD for the BP.
