We need to hire Veterans to help to protect our schools. Many Vets would love to help to protect our children.

Salute,

Tony V.

We need sensible gun law reforms...

No absolute security at schools, kids and teachers will keep being slaughtered.
The latest school massacre, allegedly by 18 yr old Salvador Romas, who was shot dead, obviously psycho-angry about something, his grandmother is reportedly among the victims, was totally preventable.
He just got out of his vehicle, entered the school and shot people.
Small town schools need absolute security too.

I bet Loeb and Loeb would work Pro Bono for the citizens of Anaheim.

We need to bring in Loeb and Loeb for the people, and investigative reporters like Christina Pascucci.

Build walls, fences, gates at schools.
Put locks on everything.
Can you just walk into a US prison and start shooting people?

Design schools like prisons...then only remove the security aspect of the prisons to a level that make schools absolutely safe from gun massacres.

Guns are great, and are needed for self defence...as the couple in Florida found out when they needed to protect themselves from harm from the man who entered their home, refused to leave even after they fired warning shots.

Every woman in America should carry 2 guns at all times.
Armed..serial killers, rapists, violent thugs roam the streets looking for victims...the movie The Abduction of Lisa McVey now on Netflix shows it all.
A true story, if only she'd had guns strapped on and been 'Lisa the Kid'.

Absolute security protects absolutely.

Schools...walls, fences, gates, auto/manual staged entry systems, metal detectors, bomb detectors, etc etc etc.

Gun buy back programs work.

Requiring gun insurance would help.

Taxing ammo and/or restricting it would help.

Laws requiring guns be locked in the owner's home would help.

We don't have the scoop on this one, but the last mass shooting would not have occurred with consistently tighter gun laws - regardless of guns in circulation.

And sure, there are many in circulation. Why do you oppose limiting the ongoing increase?!

The sooner the fountain of guns is turned off, the sooner the number in circulation will start declining.

You can't take a gun onto a plane...but you can just walk right thru the front doors of schools with a gun.
Someone should really stop that from happening.

Small towns tend to feel more insulated from what they perceive as urban problems - even when reality keeps saying otherwise.  Small town schools tend to have more relaxed security, there's an everybody knows everybody else mentality, as well as smaller budgets for making changes..  That may start to change.

Matthew McConaughey, the actor, who happens to be a native of Uvalde TX, seems to be tweeting philosophically and calls for introspection but is pretty vague on the matter of gun control...

Bambu, it looks like the school had a security officer stationed at the entrance, and the shooter forced his way past by shooting him.

I am impressed at how quickly Wikipedia has assembled quite a bit of information from dozens of news sources.  You may find this helpful.  (someone needs to put Paul Gosar in a padded room, btw)

It is worrisome that Paul Gosar can legally purchase firearms, and that he is allowed to run loose.

Thankfully some networks are helping piece together today the details of the latest tragedy in TX.

Some real security concerns, as we learn the shooter entered through back door of school.

Info continues to trickle in on timeline.  Hard to imagine if police weird involved in a chase with the kid just how they lost sight of him (chase after grandma killing is unconfirndd)

What networks, i.e. major news outlets with regional correspondents, are not helping piece together the details?

There will always be security concerns if we have lots of crazy angry people running around with assault weapons.  As has now been verified, the shooter's weapon enabled him to breach security at the south entrance.  We could put armed officers at every entrance of every school in the nation, and this sort of thing could still happen.  Maybe security staffing, alone, is not the answer.  And even if it were, who is to say that someone who wants to do a mass shooting would not shift to other venues if the school was really sealed up tight?

Maybe more resources allocated to mental health and at-risk youth, and addressing early signs of breakdowns.  Maybe tighter restrictions on young people buying weapons, especially assault rifles.  Waiting periods.  Stringent background checks. Background checks of family members who might have access to a weapon.  Maybe training and testing, as we do with automobiles (and those are not specifically designed for killing, lethal though they are).  Come on, are you REALLY worried that you personally are going to be oppressed by invaders if you can't have an assault rifle?  Do you really think any rifle sold now would be more than a peashooter against a modern military unit that has breached the borders?

Weird, we spent trillions of dollars on the possibility of more foreign terrorists attacking within the United States, but we can't seem to cough up a fraction of that for our children being slaughtered in schoolhouses.  There have been 27 school shootings in the country since Jan. 1, 2022.  The copycat effect is causing the trend to accelerate, as it often does.
