Being able to own a car is not a Constitutional right, like with owning a gun. Being able to own a gun is part of the foundation of our nation. Our Founding Fathers would not have ratified our Constitution without our Second Amendment.

Nor would they have ratified in to permit semi-automatic rifles to be sold to 18 year olds in the current environment.
Huh? The AR15 is no different than the rifles of 1776.

Hahahahahaha!

Funniest thing you have ever written.

And most ignorant, which is amazing, given its competition.

How many rounds per second can be fired from a 1776 rifle?

Biden to speak in Uvalde

I think the mayor might toss him out on his ass like he did Beto.

https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/uvalde-texas-school-shooting

Th mayor has his own problems such as how come his police force failed to move on the shooter for a fucking hour.

Yeah. It would seem.

3 rounds per minute for the 1790s rifles, if handled by an expert.

Same as an AR15! (If it jams after the 3rd round.)

With the high temperatures in Vegas then it requires the building of swimming pools as people build in Vegas. Vegas needs swimming pools and tennis courts.

And people need to plant a lot of shade trees in Vegas. And people can grow gardens in the desert.

I do keep responding to you, so perhaps I do less than clever things.

So, genius, got any evidence to support your laughable claim about 1776 arms vs. AR15s?

My comment about the 1790s weapons was not off the top of my head, so if you had any evidence to support your position, I would love to see it.

Of course, the Puckle Gun was patented before 1776 and could fire 9 rounds per minute:

OTOH, there is no evidence that it was ever used in combat and it may be that they never made more than two of them. Oops.

The Kalthoff repeater was a better weapon, with a higher rate of firing.

https://military-history.fandom.com/wiki/Kalthoff_repeater
Quote
Despite having a remarkably fast fire rate for the time, the Kalthoff could never have become a standard military firearm because of its cost. The mechanism had to be assembled with skill and care, and took far more time to assemble than an ordinary muzzle-loader. Also, all the parts were interdependent; if a gear broke or jammed, the whole gun was unusable and only a specialist gunsmith could repair it. It needed special care; powder fouling, or even powder that was slightly wet, could clog it. Since it was so expensive to buy and maintain, only wealthy individuals and elite soldiers could afford it.

I've never seen evidence that it was used in America. Have you?

Oh, wait - what about the American-patented Belton flintlock?!

"Belton wrote that the musket could fire eight rounds with one loading,[1] and that he could support his claims "by experimental proof.""

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belton_flintlock

The Continental Congress chose not to buy them. And post-revolution, the Brits declined, as well.

"There are no records that indicate that the gun was ever supplied, and it is uncertain if or how exactly the Belton improvement operated."

To the point that the Belton flintlock is better known as the Belton hoax.

LOL.

Knock yourself out, Ward.

And next, tell me about how sound travels through the aether and about the study of phrenology.

There will always be security concerns if we have lots of crazy angry people running around with assault weapons.  As has now been verified, the shooters weapon enabled him to breach security at the south entrance.  We could put armed officers at every entrance of every school in the nation, and this sort of thing could still happen.  Maybe security staffing, alone, is not the answer.  And even if it were, who is to say that someone who wants to do a mass shooting would not shift to other venues if the school was really sealed up tight?

Dumbest member of Congress!

During an interview with Fox News personality Sean Hannity, Boebert called former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-TX) a jerk for confronting GOP Gov. Greg Abbott over Republican gun policies.

When 9/11 happened, we didn't ban planes, we secured the cockpits!

Our founding fathers feared a standing army and saw state militias as the basis of our national defense against all enemies, foreign and domestic. It is right there in the Second Amendment. That is why they insisted on it; the collective self defense. Times have changed, we have a massive standing army and have not called on militias for.self defense in over a century.

I did, a day ago, based on revised information.  You missed it, I guess.  Small towns, lax rules, can't happen here, I'm gonna go grab a cup of coffee.  I know small towns well, so I know how these things happen.  And, as Josh noted, if we do manage to seal up schools hermetically, raging loners with assault weapons can go plenty of other public places and do the same mass killing.  Gun control is necessary, and it's what pretty much every other civilized nation does.  Done holding your hand.

Lou Correa wants for the City of Anaheim to buy the Angels baseball team.

We need to bring in Mike Scioscia and Albert Pujols to help the City of Anaheim to own and run the Angels baseball team.

And the Citizens of Anaheim can bring in Loeb and Loeb if we need help from a law firm.

And people can sell food and hot dogs and beer and stuff at Angel Stadium to raise money for charity and to help to feed hungry people and to help to support Caterina's Club. The Chefs can have fun feeding people at Angel Stadium to raise money to feed hungry people.

Salute,

...As a starting point, Democrats should drop the mealy-mouthed formulation, Nobody supports the Second Amendment more than I do, but still... Claiming fidelity to the Second Amendment has never convinced a single NRA supporter of a candidate s sincerity, but it has stopped bold thinking about lasting solutions to Americas gun crisis. Since right-wingers have long been screaming that Democrats are after their guns, the political damage from talking realistically about the Second Amendment may be exaggerated. At minimum, outside cause groups advocating for rolling back the Second Amendment would make background checks and assault weapons bans seem like politically safer middle of the road options.

https://newrepublic.com/article/166628/democrats-repeal-second-amendment-guns

Good point.  I think if we just say yes we ARE after your guns, and take the John Paul Stevens gambit, then a lot of mealy-mouthed talk would end, we would see that many Americans really don't give a flying fuck about 18th century concerns, and the middle path would be more recognizable.
