You don't actually think you can slip a "Kind Hearts and Coronets" reference past me, do you?

30th in line to the throne is now Richard, Duke of Gloucester. A man can hope. Two was child's play. 29 is beyond even beyond the Dukes of Chalfont.

Only lost best pic BAFTA because 3rd Man came out the same year.  I was both appalled and delighted to learn my spouse has never seen KHaC.  Delighted because now I can watch again.

Without explaining the differences and explaining why there are the such differences it's interesting to note that the British and American versions of
Kind Hearts...." have very different endings.

Aside from the reduced adultery references and toe entrapment victim profiles in a nursery rhyme, the real problem for the American audience (IMO) was the uncertainty in the original as to whether Louis's true crime was ever discovered.  No dark ambiguous British endings, please!  So the guards have to find Louis's memoirs.

We still have the issues of Northern Ireland, the Rock of Gibraltar, and the Malvinas Islands, among other issues.

I did not agree with the Queen on a lot of stuff, but no one could ever question her dedication to her people.

And the Constitutional Monarchy is a good form of government, France should have kept their King, and Spain was wise to put a Bourbon back on the Throne of Spain. I also love the Grimaldi family of Monaco ( I attended the same acting school as Princess Grace Kelly, the AADA. Now her Granddaughter Princess Carlota Casiraghi is my favorite Royal in Europe. )

In the USA we have our Constitutional Republic that often contradicts itself, we had Carter who supported the Sandinistas, while we had Reagan who supported the Contras, while England never had problems like that because the Queen kept England consistent.

With the USA our allies never know what to expect as we change leaders and everything changes as the leaders change. There was a huge difference between Obama and Trump, and England never had that problem because they had the Queen.

Salute,

Tony V.

And let's not rule out the Norwegians, up there in the nineties!  Everything got shuffled, for the better, when they passed that law in 2015 which ended male primogeniture and Roman Catholic exclusion.

Caution before clicking this.  It's an intellectual rabbit hole that may leave you wondering things like "who the fuck are the Ogilvies?" Or "how many people in the world could be named Ingeborg Ribeiro?"

A divine one the brits would have you believe. At least they stood up to the Nazis unlike some other divine leaders.

The Falkland Islands are British...and will be defended by Britain...until the Falkland islanders decide they no longer want to be British...so said the Queen.
Mr Penn got involved and caused a stir...drama there was...Britain sent Prince William for the anniversary, and HMS Dauntless, some nuke ship...just patrolled around, parked out of sight behind some mountains.
Then the people of the Falkland Islands sent a message;

"The Flag is mightier than the Penn"...as a convoy snaked out of Stanley, flags waved as battle standards.

Northern Ireland can be part of Ireland when the people of Northern Ireland wish it to be..so said the Queen.

Northern Ireland...the Orange and the Green.
The Protestants and the Catholics.

Ireland...Catholic..aligned with Rome.
Britain...Protestant...Protestant Monarch.

Back in the day, 1688, there was the Battle of The Boyne...when William Prince of Orange came over from Holland and kicked the Catholic-aligned King James out.

There is a song on You Tube.."The Battle of the Boyne, Ulster Loyalist song."
