He was an  American icon who in 1953 introduced the world to Playboy magazine and built the company into one of the most recognizable American global brands in history.
Hefner received numerous awards for his contributions to society and the publishing industry. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the American Society of Magazine Editors in 1998. In the new millennium, he received the Henry Johnson Fisher Award and became an honorary member of The Harvard Lampoon.
During the golden age of Playboy Magazine an ever increasing circulation allowed Hefner to build a vast enterprise of private keyclubs that, among other traits, were racially inclusive in a time where segregation was still legally enforced. (A documentary on Hefner that focused on his civil rights activism later received a NAACP Image Award nod.)

Over the years Playboy Enterprises also built hotel resorts, started modeling agencies and operated a number of media endeavors. Hefner hosted two short-run television series, Playboy Penthouse (1959 1960), which featured the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Tony Bennett, and Playboy After Dark (1969 1970), with guests like Milton Berle and James Brown. Both programs were weekly talk shows set in a bachelor pad full of Playboy Playmates, who chatted with Hefner and his special guests about various subjects.

He was great at what he did, maybe you do not like his image.
Others do.
You can disagree but why not tell us where Hefner falls short of greatness instead of attacking other posters who have a different view of the man?

In my opinion Hugh Hefner was a great man, and he was well respected in Hollywood, and he helped to rebuild the Hollywood sign when called upon to help. And Playboy is one of the best known brands in history.

I hope that Hef's daughter can revive the company. Maybe she can get Barbi Benton, and some Harvard graduates to help her to save the company.

I have seen what it is like when refugees from foreign civil wars come to the USA only to get involved with gang violence and problems here in the USA. I have seen what it is like for the refugees who have come to California from wars in El Salvador, and Nicaragua, seeking the American Dream and the California Dream, only to get caught up in gang warfare on the streets.

The refugees need to come to peaceful places when they come for the American Dream.

The refugees are not going to get killed by gang violence if they come to Battle Mountain, Nevada, where land is only $1,000 per acre, the refugees can have peace in Battle Mountain, Nevada, and they can do trade with San Francisco, etc. Battle Mountain has good schools, and zero crime, and the land is cheap. For those who want to study, there is a community college nearby in Elko, Nevada.

Or for the refugees who want peace, there is also Adel, Oregon, where my Grandfather was born. My Grandparents almost bought the town, the town has a store, and a restaurant, and a tavern, and a lake with a bait and tackle shop and with boat rentals, etc, etc, etc, and the town has schools for the children and a church for Sunday. There is zero crime in Adel, Oregon, and the refugees can have peace and they can raise their children in peace.

America has many wonderful small towns like Battle Mountain, Nevada, and like Adel, Oregon, where there is zero crime, and there is no need for the refugees to live in areas with high crime and with gang violence.

The peaceful hippies and those who want to have their own communes, can also find wonderful peaceful small towns in America where there is zero crime. People need to be willing to take the path less traveled. There are some great little safe towns where the refugees can find the American Dream without the gang violence.

CNN should get a boost from fake news viewership that does not self identify as cousin fucking and thus decides to move away from content tailored for proud cousin fuckers only. That will be from the almost dead demo you inhabit, not the younger solvent desirable demo that ranges more widely for its news than a cable channel.
