Bambu, on the issue of Missile Defense, I recommend that Australia buy some modified F-104 Starfighters and arm them with Sidewinder Missiles, which can be used to shoot down Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, etc. And for instance if North Korea sent a Missile at Australia then Australia could send up some F-104 Starfighters with Sidewinder Missiles to shoot down the Missiles.

From another post that I made on Meander...

On the issue of our fighter planes...

They can vector the thrust on the F-104 Starfighter to improve the steering and to help it to pull out of spins, and they can update the technology on the F-104, and they can continue to use the F-104 to help to protect America. The F-104 is way faster than the F-18, and with some modifications then the F-104 can still be of service.

And NASA continues to use the F-104 Starfighter as a chase plane, it is a fast plane, they just need to make some modifications and the plane can still be of service, along with being a chase plane for NASA.

You can arm the modified F-104 Starfighters with Sidewinder Missiles and you can use them to shoot down Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, etc.

Salute,

Tony V.

The STRONGEST EVIDENCE TO DATE ?
Written by a staff writer at the Atlantic whose source was a scientist NOT INVOLVED in the  research?

Well, suppose it is true.

Then explain how the left has been bellowing for three years that the previous evidence clearly pointed to the wet market?

Never mind.

We should certainly get some of those too.
One can never have too many missiles to fire in attack and defence.

US Congress or Defence Dept or the President has to approve all arms sales abroad, apparently...as the sale of the 220 Tomahawks had to be approved.
Seems one can't just rock up to the US Missile Shop, place an order and have it shipped.

Fellahs, the F-104 was retired from service in 1989. The German Luftwaffe pilots called it the Widowmaker

Lauren Opal Boebert is an American politician, businesswoman, and gun rights activist serving as the U.S. representative for Colorado's 3rd congressional district. From 2013 to 2022, she owned Shooters Grill, a restaurant in Rifle, Colorado, where staff members were encouraged to carry firearms openly.

#####

Lauren, my new hero, is also very articulate ...a "thinking man's" kind of woman.
A man who thinks one can never have too much security would likely find her appealing.

Pity the staff and customers at the Broad Arrow cafe in Port Arthur, Tasmania hadn't been toting guns, then they might not have been massacred by Martin Bryant with his assault rifle/s.

These animals are sold in such markets, as the article made clear to those who read it.  The racoon dog DNA traces, evidence shared with the larger scientific community, add to the strength of the basic theory that there was an animal intermediary between bats and humans.   Epidemiology tends to work on accumulations of evidence from various sources, and often finds more than one intermediary species.  Pangolins could be another, as could red foxes, palm civets and mink.   This has nothing to do with the "Left" and is about various lines of scientific evidence that point towards the similarity of many many disease outbreaks from places where there is low sanitation, high human proximity, and animal species that carry a virus.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/new-evidence-supports-animal-origin-of-covid-virus-through-raccoon-dogs/

Florence Debarre, an evolutionary biologist at the French National Center for Scientific Research discovered genetic sequences of the virus that researchers in China, led by George Gao, former head of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, had uploaded to a public genomic database called GISAID. The sequences were subsequently taken down but not before several other researchers from different countries downloaded and analyzed them. Samples containing viral RNA, which had been collected at the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in early 2020, also contained genetic material from raccoon dogs, a foxlike type of canid apparently sold at the market, as well as other animals. The genetic material came from the same areas of the market where COVID was found, suggesting that the raccoon dogs may have been infected with the virus (possibly by other animals) and could have been the first to spread the virus to humans.

Hope that helps.
