The last school I taught at in NY had that policy. A fleet of trucks and vans appeared going into the business of holding phones for students throughout the school day. They crowded out the snack trucks.

One of my radio hosts was having trouble with his son aged about 13,
Boy was going along with other boys doing anti-social actions, like kicking over people's trash bins etc.
Host was concerned son could get a criminal record so he arranged with the prison to be able to take his son there one day and give him a tour.
Tour including locking the boy in a cell and leaving him there for 30 mins or so.
"This is where you'll be coming if you break the law, and the door won't be opened after 30 mins.
"No luxuries like you have at home, this will be your new home, no girlfriends, no cars, no phones etc."
Son was a very good boy after that.
Trouble with the West today, life is sugar-coated, reality is missing, all high school students should be taken on prison tours and sat in cells, and have their phones, cars, hot showers, girlfriends and boyfriends confiscated for a week.

It was known those programs did not work more than 20 years ag.

An anti-capitalism coffee shop in Canada is closing after barely a year in business, its owner announced.

The reason?

per the owner
the lack of generational wealth or seed capital from ethically bankrupt sources

The Toronto cafe, The Anarchist, opened in March 2022 and previously described itself as an anti-capitalist, anti-colonial cafe, shop and radical community space on stolen land,
 It will close its doors on May 30.
In an effort to make coffee accessible to everyone and to enforce the idea that the enterprise is not a capitalist venture, the shop had a pay what you canmodel that was subsidized by pricier drinks, according to the cafe website.
The owner  said The Anarchist has been a huge success in every way I hoped, and has given me so much inspiration and education that I plan to put to use in future projects.
He ended with

Fuck the rich. Fuck the police. Fuck the state. Fuck the colonial death camp we call Canada.
The shop also sells merchandise highlighting anti-capitalist views.

What's old is new again.
Mmm, maybe videos instead of actual visits, HD colour and filming techniques could make the experiences real.
Youth crime is out of control in bambuworld...everything from zip code gangs in stabbings in Sydney, to drunken destruction / robberies of homes and businesses, and assaults of people in rural and regional towns...vigilantes (unarmed but in numbers) trying to reclaim their towns.
Car theft everywhere, a 13 yr old allegedly driving a stolen car killed people in a crash.
Cops and gov seem reluctant to act toughly as 'race' is said to be involved in some instances.

Based on a true story...so I lost respect for Norway.

Ukraine is losing the invasion war, slowly but surely.
You have all the latest weaponry and nukes galore.I have nothing, not even one gun.
When the invaders are coming in your front door, you can stand and fight.
I on the other hand
 have to run out the back door as fast as I can and look for somewhere to hide.
