Walz has a way of calling people to be their best selves. It's more than charisma, it's statesmanship. People, especially in the heartland, can see who Walz is, that it's real and something they can trust. What's sorta sad is that Vance could have been that, too, before he took that Trumpian fork in the road and became a caricature of himself. Vance probably tells himself he's just playing a part so he can ride Trump's coattails, but he's actually given up a chunk of his soul.
