$ 15 dollar an hour minimum wages are  at Costco and Amazon,($17 at Bank of America) and coming soon to Target and, inevitably, to McDonalds—-all driven by market-forces NOT the heavy hand of Governments.

Huh.  I thought as soon as the wages went to $15 dollars restaurants were going to go to robot servers...

And of course, the higher minimum wages these companies are setting has nothing to do with the 18 States that have raised their minimums this year, some by cost-of-living, many as high as $15 per.  No one but no one said that this would be one of the resultants of those heavy-handed government mandated raises.  Definitely no one on this very forum.

Happy Friday.

BTW, I'd love a link to this news item.  Googling the content doesn't bring it up, and nothing on the New York Fed website.

Thanks.

New Yougov polling now shows Americans support an impeachment inquiry against trump, 47% to 44%.

Time is not on Trump's side.

Perhaps you could provide a link to the source of your information, as is customary on a forum.

This gives somewhat different figures.  Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Yes, a link would be helpful.  The starting wage Ward gives sounds more like the average for professionals with post-Bachelor's degrees, than the overall average starting wage.

Also, generally, "wage" would not be used to describe an annual salary for a profession, which seems to be the figure he's giving.

The little rock is known as Mike Huckabee. I can see her crawling back under that particular rock, because that’s how conservatives train their children.

“As The Atlantic's Franklin Foer writes, ICE is full of virulently racist idiots, many of whom washed out of or were rejected by other law enforcement agencies. The election of Trump profoundly radicalized the agency, unleashing its worst impulses and slotting it into a conservative political strategy of clinging to power by keeping America as white as possible — both by violently oppressing potential refugees, and cooking up pretexts to deport as many current black or brown immigrants as possible”

Blackburn!

Since you like allowing Russia to interfere in our elections, it makes sense that you would support her actions.

And... boy, that "iggy" is working well for you, huh?

As Ward would put it, LOL!

Both the taking of bribes and money laundering are going to be a huge part of the impeachment saga.

Trump is gonna get pretty hot when Nancy starts coming after what he’s been looting due to his delusional belief that it’s somehow his money

Women's wages started lower and went up less than men's. 18-24 year old women's wages went down, not up. The exception on women vs. men was Hispanic women, who were and remain lower, but who had a greater increase.

Black men get paid less than White women. Hispanic 16-24s get paid more than Black 16-24s, but that disappears at ages 25+ in any category.

The gap in every age group's pay increases until the over 65s, when it drops a bit.

But the increase in numbers of women working was almost double the additional men. (~2 million to ~1 million).

Lots of anomolies to the seemingly general increases, like women construction workers seeing their pay plummet.

Minimum wages set by government policy is bad policy.
Fortunately an expanding economy makes such a policy needless.
Cases in point are McDonald’s and Walmart who are raising minimums because they both need to hire working class employees. And the likelihood of continued economic and wage growth is high according to a Wall Street Journal survey of economists.
