Anaheim selects new city flag from more than 100 community submissions

http://www.anaheim.net/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=1269

-----------------

I do not know about the new flag, it does not really represent Anaheim, but it is okay, and if you have the symbolism explained to you then you can kind of understand it.

Salute,

Tony V.

The U.S.Commerce Department said its broadest measure of profits across the U.S. economy rose 16.1% from the second quarter a year earlier, the largest year-over-year gain in six years.
Taxes were a big part of the boost to the bottom line. Taxes paid by U.S. companies were down 33% from a year earlier, according to the new government data, or more than $100 billion at an annual rate.
But strong underlying economic growth was also a factor. The Commerce Department revised up its estimate of how fast the economy grew in the second quarter, to an annual rate of 4.2% from an earlier estimate of 4.1%.
If there was a soft spot, it was from the rest of the world: Corporate earnings from outside of the U.S. dropped, while domestic earnings boomed.

Corporate profits are skyrocketing because of corporate tax cuts?  That's a surprise.  And a big relief too.  I mean, while wages for workers are actually going down, its great to know the CEOs will be getting theirs.

Corporate profits might have been more of a boost to workers in a country where most workers own stocks.  Unfortunately in the USA,  only half of Americans own any stock,  and the top ten percent (income) own 84 percent of all stock.   So any Trump bump is mainly benefiting the wealthy.

Guess you missed this part.

“A chunk of the strong profit growth we’re seeing in the headlines is from the tax bill,” said Jim O’Sullivan, Chief U.S. Economist at High Frequency Economics, adding that profits before taxes are also growing robustly.

Retailers had an especially good season. Target Corp. said it had its best quarterly results in more than a decade in the second quarter, partly due to a strong consumer economy that has helped lift sales across the retail industry.

“What you’re seeing right now from a macro basis is well-run retailers with strong balance sheets that generate cash that they can invest back in their business,” Target Chief Executive Brian Cornell said on a conference call with investors last week.

The Conference Board Inc. said Tuesday its index of U.S. consumer confidence climbed to 133.4 in August from 127.9 in July, hitting its highest level since October 2000. The University of Michigan’s index of consumer sentiment has declined in four out of the last five monthly readings but remains at historically high levels.

“The economy is strong,” Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said in Jackson Hole, Wyo., last week, adding inflation “is near our 2% objective, and most people who want a job are finding one.”

CHI-na!

a) Why on Earth would you believe Trump? He lies without thought, on impulse.

b) Her email server never had much classified material.

c) If it had had a lot of classified email, he should not be announcing it gleefully on Twitter - it's like giving them even more information. But playing "Gotcha!" games is what he does, more than anything but lying.

He lives to keep score (when he's winning).

Kind of like some people here I know.

Gee, Kiid, what a surprise:

Who knew that Trump lies in his tweets?! I am terribly surprised.

You are such a gullible tool.

Quote
Representative Ron DeSantis, the Republican nominee for governor in Florida, drew accusations of using a racist dog whistle on Wednesday after saying in a television interview that voters should not “monkey this up” by electing his opponent, Andrew Gillum, who would be the state’s first black governor.

“It barely took 12 hours for Trump yes-man Ron DeSantis to make a racist comment about his opponent,” Zach Hudson, a spokesman for the Democratic political action committee American Bridge 21st Century, said in a statement.

News Item

Democrat Andrew Gillum rode a surge of liberal support from young people and African Americans to a stunning primary victory Tuesday and the historic opportunity to be the first black governor in Florida’s history.
With 94 percent of the votes counted, Gillum had an unofficial 3 percentage point lead over his closest rival, former U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham. Gillum overwhelmed Graham in Miami-Dade and Broward, the state’s two largest Democratic counties, by more than a 2-to-1 margin, in the highest turnout for a midterm primary election in Florida history.

What the hell good is a voter ID law if this is allowed to happen.?

LOL

Democratic voters are energized during this mid-term season maybe like never before.  That says zero about the state's voter ID requirements.
Thanks for making my point.

Now just one cherry-picking minute!

Florida allows *any* picture ID - credit card and student ID among them.

So, yes, from your point of view, this ID law doesn't work for you.

Or, as you would put it, "Thank you for making our point."

New Australian Prime Minister...Scott Morrison ['Sco-Mo']…is a white, heterosexual, Christian, male....married with a lovey wife and two young daughters.
Not unlike Trump. [Trump phoned to congratulate him recently].

So what happens...

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/prime-minister-scott-morrison-ridiculed-by-abc-show-tonightly-for-his-christian-faith/news-story/f429d48efac2a970225a193fec323c1d

Prime Minister Scott Morrison ridiculed by ABC show Tonightly for his Christian faith

Subscriber only

ABC comedians have led the Left’s insidious charge on Australia’s first Pentecostal Prime Minister Scott Morrison in a cowardly bid to link the nation’s refugee policy to his personal Christian faith.
Less than a week into the top job, the new Liberal PM was weathering all-out mockery for his religion on the ABC’s doomed comedy show Tonightly along with Twitter barbs from Gruen transfer panellist and Labor campaign ad consultant Dee Madigan.

The attacks on Mr Morrison’s faith comes after his vow last December to fight back against discrimination and mockery of Christians — as well as other religious groups.

“If Scott Morrison was a Muslim or a Buddhist they wouldn’t be saying or doing this,” former moderator of the Presbyterian Church of NSW, The Right Reverend Mark Powell, said.

#####

This ABC...funded from the public purse....and allegedly a bastion of Leftism/FarLeftism.
Simply solution...Sco-Mo, who now holds the strings of the public purse...should cut their funding, etc.

Sure.

If white farmers in South Africa were being tortured to death, they would care, too, and try to do something about it.

Are you torturing Australian farmers, Bambu?
