This is why we have Congressional oversight. The President is granted powers, but he can abuse them in ways that are 100% illegal. For example, the President has the power to grant ambassadorships. If he says "Give me $2 million and I'll give you the ambassadorship" that's Bribery, and exactly the kind of thing the impeachment power is meant to address.

Specifically...?I mean - the guy was questioned for hours. If you want to point to an instance where there seemed to be some disrespect, fine - but this was not the overall air from the Republicans.

I will be happy when the story matches the facts; Trump set up a side deal using shady channels set up by Giuliani and his now indicted pals in order to use military aid to extort US allies into publicly smearing his political opponent. Why didnt it happen?
Because they were caught doing it. When it came to light in early September, and it was clear why aid was being witheld, then Trump's team told him needed to release the aid money immediately. Attempted extortion is still, legally, a crime.
And while we are all focused on Trump's criminality in one arena today, lets not forget how he sold US foreign policy in Syria to Turkey, and what that means for our national security:
In normal times, this would be a big scandal and be investigated.
Wow. It's amazing how dumb Devin Nunes is.
