It’s called reacting to the entirely predicted 6 months too late, a hallmark of shoddy leadership not soon forgotten by voters, “flightsuit” or no. Slo Mo’s war on fire should go about as well as W’s war on terror, or the drug war.

It’s called reacting to the entirely predicted 6 months too late, a hallmark of shoddy leadership not soon forgotten by voters, “flightsuit” or no. Slo Mo’s war on fire should go about as well as W’s war on terror, or the drug war.

It's called "state land is state land, ...and state govts are, and want/wanted to be in charge of bushfires"... "NSW Rural Fire Service".

Sco-Mo's war on fire will go just fine...the Devil will be sent packing back to purgatory where he belongs, quick smart....never to be seen in or allowed to run bushfires in Australia again.
Sco-Mo has already ignored the NSW RFS head honchos who seemed to be criticising him, announced the army reserves call up without telling them first.
He's in charge now.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has dramatically intervened in the bushfire crisis, saying the federal government had spent months ‘respecting’ the state-led response, but it had become ‘palpably clear’ the federal government had to step in.

From Bernie Sanders to Bette Midler: The world reacts to the bushfires

The fires in Australia happen every year...nothing new.
Difference this year is that the fires mostly started in/got into very remote wilderness that has been untouched for thousands of years.
Arson, and lightning.
The smoke from the fires has caused its own 'weather systems', firing down lightning bolts that have started more fires.
Sick and tired of arsonists, the cops have formed their own strike force, experts from the Homicide and Arson squads.

Now there are looters, raiding the homes of people who have evacuated early.
"My fellow Australians", baaah...wouldn't trust any of them...without I ran a giant microscope over them.

Clarkson blames blazes on God being embarrassed of Australia, 'stupid creatures'

"He created it as a continent far, far away where he could house all his experiments that had gone wrong," Clarkson wrote in a column for British tabloid The Sun.
The host went on to list several of these "experiments", including the saltwater crocodile, the redback spider, many snakes, and an "otter with a beak" - referencing a platypus.

"He needed a home for all these things, so he made Australia.

"And to make sure people didn’t go there, he put a huge coral reef on the approaches and filled the interior with a sea of sand that goes on for ever."
He said Australia and its experiments went unnoticed for years until Captain James Cook came along and "now the world knows all about Oz and its stupid, dangerous creatures".

"Plainly, God is embarrassed. Because he's decided to set fire to it."

No, troll.

You don't get it. We would like the country to do well. Not just the stock market, but including it.

We just would like the president, whomever it might be, to behave legally, which this one does not.

And you believe Clarkson. Got it.

And no, it is not "only the wilderness." Plus people in cities are having a hard time breathing, too.

But why would you care?

Wall Street poops itself whenever oil prices change a couple points.  Yet,  somehow, to certain minds it's unpatriotic to talk about alternative energy sources that would give independence from the vagaries of the global market.
No one does more  research on alternative fuels than energy companies.

ROFLMAO

Yes.   Mine came all the way off and will need surgical reattachment.  And note the clever conflating of alternative energy with alternative fuels.   Petroleum companies still do not speak the language of an electron economy.
Of course not. They are heavily invested in oil, from finding it, taking it out of the ground, refining it, and delivering it. But, at the same time, they are researching alternate energy solutions to the tune of $ millions. They are, after all, energy suppliers, and none of them will stay in business if they are not prepared to adapt to market changes. The US, thanks to fracking, leads the world in oil production which could not have happened without private industry’s pioneering effort to produce huge quantities of natural gas, thereby reducing co2 emissions. These same companies will be leaders in alternate energy whenever such alternatives become market viable.

OK, 'mostly in the wilderness/remote bushland'. Cities and their suburbs are not burning.
Most of the million acres burnt are not in towns. They're out in the mountains.

No one does more  research on alternative fuels than energy companies.

In 2018, the top 24 big oil companies spent $3.38 billion on low carbon energy, their most yet. 70% of that was spent by the European oil majors.

The US has averaged more than that annually for the last decade. China, most years, outspends the US 3-1 in this domain.

So, no, unless you are engaged in your usual sophistry of saying you mean that nobody spends more than the alternative energy companies.
