News Item

The great American jobs boom continued at small companies in January, with more hiring and rising wages. That’s according to the latest employment survey from the National Federation of Independent Business, due out later today.

NFIB Chief Economist William Dunkelberg shares the good news via email: “Job creation jumped in January, with an average addition of 0.49 workers per firm, the highest level since March 2019, rebounding back into strong territory.”

Finding qualified workers remains the biggest business problem for 26% of the small-business owners surveyed. This reading is just one percentage point below the record high set in August.

Why is it then that you still can’t buy a clue?

If you don’t consistently call out clowns like that they start to think of themselves as normalized. Then they start to get really dangerous.

Mayor Eric Garcetti was live.

To solve the homelessness crisis, we also need to prevent more people from ending up on our streets in the first place. Here’s what we’re doing to keep families in their homes and how we’re building momentum on solutions to this crisis.

We need to invite Ivanka Trump to come to Los Angeles to give out business loans to our women here in California, and we need to expand programs which give out business loans to all of our people, and we need redevelopment money for our bad neighborhoods, and women can help to design and rebuild our neighborhoods. We can have great new outdoor landscaping, and we can have cool stuff like out-door water fountains, and statues, and we can have cobblestone courtyards, and more trees and plants, etc, and we can hire homeless people to do the labor. Rome, Italy, is a good example with their fountains and piazzas, etc. And our tourists will love the new and improved Los Angeles, and tourism creates a lot of jobs.

And it is awesome that new shelters are opening, it looks like a lot of great things are happening in Los Angeles.

Salute,

Tony V.

Trump’s impeachment acquittal is bad for Democrats, but good for Australia

With the President being cleared of all wrongdoing, the prospect of another Trump term looks more likely than ever. Which can only be good for those of us Down Under, writes James Morrow.

The debacle of the Iowa caucus, whose results may never be known thanks to some as yet undetermined combination of conspiracy and cock-up, called into question the Democrats’ ability to run even a provincial preselection, much less reorganise the entire economy.

And the icing on the cake was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi theatrically tearing up Trump’s State of the Union speech …
It was not, as they say, a good look.

Were a radical leftist like Bernie Sanders to take the White House and cripple the American economy with socialism and high taxes, we’d pay the price – and our dependence on China, already too great, would grow as Beijing moved to take up the slack left by a moribund US.

(Incidentally, Sanders is probably the best hope to take the White House for the Democrats because – despite being as far to the left as Trump is to the right – he speaks the same language of nation and community. This scares the pants off elite, globalised liberals from Manhattan and Silicon Valley and the Washington Beltway, which is exactly why they would rather spend four years in the wilderness complaining about Trump at dinner parties than let Bernie anywhere near the reins of power).

All praise to Dr Li Wenliang and his ilk who blew the whistle...now we know what goes on in China, and how Coronavirus started.
He and his ilk saved the world from 'total' disaster, many millions could've died if he hadn't stood tall.

Coronavirus whistleblower doctor Li Wenliang dies from infection in Wuhan, local hospital says

A Wuhan hospital says a Chinese doctor who blew the whistle on the outbreak of coronavirus only to be reprimanded by police has died from the virus, amid confusion over earlier reports of his death and then resuscitation.

For those of us who truly love the House as an institution, it was one of the lowest moments to unfold on the floor… if Pelosi does not apologize and agree to honor the principle of neutrality and civility at the State of the Union, she should resign as speaker.
