Okay. The story I read had the timeline messed up and I failed to doublecheck.

And not all of them are bad for Biden.

But it is an odd confluence, regardless.

Josh,  I see these as the possibilities:

1. She was harassed by Biden,  and then,  at a later date after 1998, decided to amplify the story to make her status as a victim more clear-cut, and used racy details borrowed (wittingly or unwittingly) from Dad's novel.   A partial fabrication.

2.  Sexual scenes in racy novels often involve manual penetration,  and the similarities are coincidence.    She didn't confide in her father between 1993-98 about an actual sexual assault which just happened to share elements with the fictional scene he wrote.

3.  (more disturbing)  She did confide in her father and he,  God only knows why,  used details of her story in a novel and turned an assault into a sexy and titillating tryst.  If this were the case, the guy has horrendous issues.

4.  Reade has a major mental illness which led her to believe in an encounter that in fact she had only fantasized, a projection of her perhaps legitimate fears of men with power.

5.  Reade is lying completely,  also lied completely back in the 90s,  and unwittingly borrowed elements of her current lie from a book by her father, and is a sane person who, for personal reasons, or political reasons,  or both,  wants to take down old Joe.

So far,  I'm drawing no conclusions as to whether any of these, or none of these,  are what really happened.   I want to believe someone who is a real victim,  but pretty much everything I've ever heard about Biden,  in the past four decades,  makes the alleged behavior seem utterly unlike him.

She should file suit a la E. Jean Carroll.

hmm

Maybe

But then why would Joe have ZERO recollection of the harassment?

Because maybe he didn’t do it?

I did which is why I asked the question.

Are you seriously asking if a group of angry black men or angry Muslims,  armed with assault weapons, would be allowed to storm into the Michigan capitol building and terrorize the legislature?   And why they wouldn't ??

As my former neighbor from Deptford,  England would have said,  "pull the other one,  mate! "  LoL!
LOL.
Nothing like a tailor made and hysterical hypothetical.
In the real world the number of anti-Trump rallies and marches organized by minorities are numerous and went on as planned.
Meanwhile we are supposed to be mortified when fascist governors meet resistance from taxpayers whose constitutional rights  are trampled on?
Don’t think so.
"Fascist." The list of words that Red uses but has no idea the meaning of is endless and expands daily.

On Friday, responding to the president’s tweet, Whitmer said, “We’re not just in a political crisis where we should just negotiate and find some common ground here. We’re in a public health crisis. We’re in the midst of a global pandemic that has already killed almost 4,000 people in our state.”

Whitmer stressed that “we are not out of this crisis” and said her decisions would be driven “by the data and by the medical experts, not political polls, not political posturing, and not political maneuvers like you saw yesterday at the state capitol.”

Very nice - til that last part

I see 'isolation' protesters in America, some carrying assault rifles, every night on my news.
"Risky freedom is better than communist lockdowns" some placards read.
No idea.

Social distancing is the only way to make the virus homeless and kill it off.

Its like a combo protest, bambu

The guns mean little to nothing when it comes to the "re-open the state" part of the protest.  They are being carried just as a reminder of second amendment rights.

Likely most not even loaded.

That they have frightened legislators is unfortunate.

and they're real fucking patriots

they don't give a fuck about the 100,000 or more citizens that are going to die and the families that get destroyed this year

or the tens of thousands who might die if the virus keeps on spreading

or the tens of thousands who nmight die next year

because they think their rights are greater than the public's rights

and they're inconveninced by shelter-in-place and businesses closed

we all are

so the selfish assholes dress-up like bikers banditos and try to scare the law abiding citizens and decent people.

I hope they fucking get CV and painfully choke to death unable to draw a breathe

they deserve a miserable lonely death

fuck em.

White privilege.

I had much the same reaction,  ticking off in my head all the groups who wouldn't be allowed to do this.
Why not?

It is kind of interesting that Bank and a few others seem to feel the entirety of the Michigan capitol protest was crazy, gun toting confederates.

Have to wonder if they had a chance to really assess all the information available to them on the matter - not just what some of the news outlets are putting out

That they have frightened legislators is unfortunate.

They frightened mrs bambu, not when she was in America, she never saw anything like that then....frightened her the other night when she saw them on tv.
She's already distraught over the number of people dying in America from the virus...she hoping none of the people she met or stayed with were among them.
I told her not to worry, that people are allowed to walk around with guns like that, in "open carry" states.
One such protester caught the virus and died. If only he's stayed home in isolation

Australia in the last couple of months, made "Ministerial Directives" that no one was allowed to leave their homes, at all, with out one of "16 very good reasons".
. Exercise
. Buy food
. Go to work
. Go to doctor
. Go to see [one]sweetheart. Was banned at first, but love prevailed.
. Go to hospital
. "Minister of religion"
etc.

International borders closed.
Anyone returning by air or sea put into isolation in hotels for 14 days.
State borders closed.
"No loitering".
Buy a kebab, sit on a part bench and eat it, $1000 fine for you.
Beaches closed. Too many no-ideas breaking the rules.
Leave your home, sit in a sealed car in the street...$1000 fine for you..."going nowhere in particular" is not on the list...a couple...$2000 fine.
Pubs, clubs, restaurants, shops [except supermarkets] all closed.
Pubs and restaurants allowed to have take away only.
Millions unemployed.
Businesses gone broke...maybe not as many as claimed by some.
ScoMo decreed: unemployment benefit to be doubled to $1,100 per FN.
"Jobkeeper" scheme announced...employers who can demonstrate 25% loss of income will be paid $1.500per FN for 6 months, for every staff member employed for more than 6 months.
Tenant protection laws passed.
Landlord protection laws passed...it's all a bunfight.

Isolation and social-distancing were the keys.
The curve has been flattened, only about 90 or so deaths, restrictions have started to be lifted...very slowly, don't want any second wave.
People don't obey the rules, the place will be shutdown again, quicker than the no-ideas can blink.

Australia is not America.
So many people in NY...so closely residing, so closely working and commuting...so many aged people living alone.

Our most infected group...females in their twenties.

As I understand it, Gov Whitmer is following the guidelines as recommended by Trump's Federal Pandemic Task Force to best control the disease and save lives and eventually reopeen businesses at reduced risk to the public.

I'm not sure sure that 200 gun-toting law-breakers changes the CV science. But if they are going to protest they should probably maintain a safe distance from one nother and wear masks.

and if they don't they stand a pretty good chance of catching and spreading the disease.

State parks in NJ open tomorrow - as well as the county parks in this area.  My town has chosen to wait.  But it will be nice to get out and about in the morning.
