A healthy population is really really good for the economy, so it kind of "pays for itself" in terms of overall social benefit.
Not with price controls or socialism.
Nearly 80 per cent of the drugs never fully recover their cost of research and production.
Without the promise of high profits on the remaining 20 per cent very few drug firms could sustain the multi-billion dollar cost of (an average) ten tears in Research and development.
An average of 20 new drugs are ok’d by the FDA each year at a cost to drug company of $5-10 Billion dollars. When statins came on the market in the mid-90’s the average monthly cost of prescriptions went from $ 35 to $ 70, while death from hypertension -related illnesses decreased by nearly 50% in the next decade.

Sorry, but getting through all these cut-and-pasted sentences strung together, what is your argument?

Asshole Senator from CT flat out calls Judge Kavanaugh a rapist.

I would also say that now, any Senate committee that does not subpoena the testimony of Mark Judge has no real interest in getting to the truth.

Now?

Now?!

The majority party made it clear long ago they wanted anything but the truth when it came to Kavanaugh.

This underscores it, but, for example, the refusal to subpoena Mark Judge and the failure to even inquire about what the former clerks, et al, had to say illustrated the fact quite well without this newest piece waiting to be ignored.

What she needs to do is file charges.

Say what you want about the need of Republicans to bring in outside help to avoid the spectacle of an alleged sexual assault victim being questioned by eleven old men, but from this breakdown I would say (surprisingly) that their choice was someone sincerely and professionally involved in the issue, who has experience with and is sensitive to the needs of those victims.

She does have a good reputation locally as being tough on perps and sympathetic to victims. Interesting go see which she sees as which. She has successfully prosecuted delayed reporting cases, albeit not 3t years.

Not sure what to make of the latest allegations against Kavanaugh, except to say that her description of the atmosphere in these parties and Kavanaugh's drinking are consistent with what we have heard from others so far.......

Well, no -

today's accusations have to do with drugging women for the purpose of gang raping them.  Not really like the others at all.

But like I said - we all knew something like this was coming.

I said we have stories from others that are consistent with this allegation.  Not that this was "like the others."

And we do, like this story from Judge's ex-girlfriend:

After seeing Judge’s denial, Elizabeth Rasor, who met Judge at Catholic University and was in a relationship with him for about three years, said that she felt morally obligated to challenge his account that “ ‘no horseplay’ took place at Georgetown Prep with women.” ...
Rasor recalled that Judge had told her ashamedly of an incident that involved him and other boys taking turns having sex with a drunk woman. Rasor said that Judge seemed to regard it as fully consensual. She said that Judge did not name others involved in the incident, and she has no knowledge that Kavanaugh participated. But Rasor was disturbed by the story and noted that it undercut Judge’s protestations about the sexual innocence of Georgetown Prep.

Quite a few other supporting stories from witnesses in the above.  And its not a pay site!

Brett Kavanaugh's team denies involvement.

Democrats concur.

Trump insists that nothing happened.

Bill Cosby goes to prison...

I idolized Cosby as a kid, memorized his records, never missed “I Spy,” loved his sitcoms, and his philanthropy.

I was slightly annoyed by his shift toward grumpy moralizing with the chastising of Eddie Murphy for his language when by then anyone clued into the business knew he was cutting a wide swath through the world of women.

Back in the day quaaludes, coke and high end booze was SOP for the hip club scene so the rumors of the Cos slipping mickey’s to ladies weren’t exactly state secrets but they weren’t on Page Six, either.

All that to say when the accusations started coming they made sense to me and on the real, most everybody else who wasn’t wearing blinders.

What knocked me off the fence was when he rationalized young black men being murdered at the hands of police asking “Why did they steal the pound cake ?” Conservatives loved that.

You don’t get to be the moralizing national paternal example if you’re a predatory monster. Another thing, don’t @ folks about “why would he hit that? She ain’t...”

None of this is about sex, it’s all about power and control.

Also, miss me with the “If Bill Cosby goes to prison, why isn’t...”  because this is about him.

“This is absolutely — it’s below me. ... This is something that’s happening not just to me, but around the country. This is the way that they’re trying to win. They will buy, they will cheat, they will assassinate your character to try and win.”

But Love isn’t holding back from running negative ads against McAdams.

A new commercial from her campaign is narrated in a voice resembling former president Bill Clinton’s in which the narrator thanks McAdams “for all your help.”

For anyone struggling with paywalls, another trick I just discovered.
After an article loads and the paywall drops, you can simply Save the page and you'll get the article in full on your computer.

At least this just worked on the first article I tried on the NYTimes.
Edit: Works on WaPo too.
So you can read any paywalled article.
