I seen a blinkered horse before, but Bambu is the first time I’ve seen a blinkered horse’s ass.

Bambu reminds me of the Chance character from Being There... although not nearly as smart.
Everything they know is what they see on TV

Yes..."as seen on tv".
All the riots in living color.

Luckily, I can read basic english too.
Today China state media is calling Aussie politicians 'thugs'. lol

You see some of the demonstrations, selectively edited.

If you follow the preponderance of the links provide by non-infected posters here, you will see a decidedly different story. Those links get posted because the jibe with the experiences of the folk who post them. Those posters, for the longest time, both for your well being and the sake of better conversations, have been urging you to use better sources of information to get your bearings right.

This is from Dale Murphy

“As terrible as this experience has been, we know that it's practically nothing compared to the systemic racism and violence against Black life that he was protesting in the first place. Black communities across America have been terrorized for centuries by excessive police force.
If you're a beneficiary of systemic racism, then you will not be able to dismantle it at no cost to yourself. You will have to put yourself at risk. It might not always result in being physically attacked, but it will require you to make yourself vulnerable.”

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1267273725335883778.html

IMO, black communities across America would be well advised to remember the past but live in the present, where things are better that they were decades ago.
Live in the present, obey all the laws of the land, and strive to make things better for themselves every day.

Then there was/is persecution of White people by White people, and the cops;

The Irish have an iconic song;

The Fields of Athenry  [pronounced At 'n' rye];

The Fields of Athenry
The Dubliners

YouTube has several versions;

By a lonely prison wall,
I heard a young girl calling
Michael they have taken you away,
For you stole trevelyn's corn
So the young might see the morn,
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay

Low lie, The Fields Of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing,
Its so lonely round the Fields of Athenry

By a lonely prison wall
I heard a young man calling
'Nothing matters Mary, when you're free'
Against the famine and the crown,
I rebelled, they brought me down

Now its lonely round the Fields of Athenry

By a lonely harbour wall
She watched the last star falling
As the prison ship sailed out against the sky
Sure she'll live in hope and pray
For her love in Botany Bay
Its so lonely round the Fields Of Athenry

Seems now if you're a cop the best thing to do is become "Sgt Shultz" so you keep your job and get your pension.

Cuomo is asking where the national leadership, the national voice is -
He's kidding, right?
Doesn't matter what Donald Trump says right now.

Yeah, it does.
But everything he says is wrong.
It doesn't have to be, Kid. He could be a voice that soothes and presents pathways of change.
He is fanning the flames with his threats, not easing the tensions.

From AP:
As cities burned night after night and images of violence dominated television coverage, Trump’s advisers discussed the prospect of an Oval Office address in an attempt to ease tensions. The notion was quickly scrapped for lack of policy proposals and the president’s own seeming disinterest in delivering a message of unity.

Perfect example of why you should consider following links.

Josh has been posting examples of excellent police responses from all around the country.

Shultz is preferable to Chauvin. You are right, at least that far.

Mike Pence is lucky there is so little justice in this country. He was three votes away from being expected to deal with all of the concurrent trump-fueled disasters.

Have to say that I figured with the economy in the toilet, Trump's lack of leadership and terrible job dealing with the C-Virus, and him generally being a jerk for 3 years, that the Dems would win this Nov.  Even retake the Senate if they run a good campaign(s).

So for me, these protests just add an extra level of uncertainty, and an opp for Trump to either consolidate support or blow it completely.  Amazing that Trump just digs in with a hard line and promotes police violence and racism.  You'd think this should be the final nail, but things could spiral out of control in weird ways.

And police should try to engage with the protesters, and should support outrage over bad policing.  Police aren't in favor of police abuses.  Most cops are good cops, but the minority of bad cops is probably much larger than expected.  Chauvin had 20 complaints against him in 17 years.  Floyd makes 18.  And that doesn't cover other incidents and abuses he engaged in which were not reported.  I imagine in most police departments, most everyone knows who the bad eggs are, who the racists are, who is most likely to abuse their authority (with violence, sex, drugs, grift, etc).  Policing the police is usually done with kiid gloves ...

Most police do not report the abuses of their fellow officers or interrupt them when they are doing something questionable.

So, no, I can no longer agree that most police are good police. If they are refusing to object when abuses are occurring, then they are corrupted, too. Better than the ones shooting or stealing from drug dealers or raping prostitutes? Sure. That doesn't make them good.
