Bishop says Trump used Bible without permission

What????

https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2020/06/02/mariann-budde-bishop-st-johns-trump-bible-photo-ac360-vpx.cnn

Perhaps that can explain it to you.

Quote
Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington told CNN's Anderson Cooper that her community did not approve of President Trump's visit to St. Johns — one of the churches in her diocese — and distanced herself from his actions Monday afternoon.

Quote
"Let me be clear. The President just used a bible, the most sacred text of the Judeo-Christian tradition, and one of the churches of my diocese without permission as a backdrop for a message antithetical to the teachings of Jesus and everything that our churches stand for. And to do so, as you just said, he sanctioned the use of tear gas by police officers in riot gear to clear the church yard. I am outraged. The President did not pray when he came to St. John's," she told CNN's Anderson Cooper. "Nor, as you just articulated, did he acknowledge the agony of our country right now. And in particular, that of the people of color in our nation, who wonder if anyone ever — anyone in public power will ever acknowledge their sacred worth, and who are rightfully demanding an end to 400 years of systemic racism and white supremacy in our country."

She added: "And I just want the world to know that we in the Diocese of Washington, following Jesus and his way of love, do not — we distance ourselves from the incendiary language of this President."

Worried for Omaha....

Quote
A Nebraska bar owner won’t be charged for the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man during protests in Omaha, officials have announced.

The shooting occurred around 11pm on Saturday, and police arrested a bar owner, Jake Gardner, soon after he killed a protester, James Scurlock, the AP reported. But Douglas county attorney Don Kleine said today that Gardner fired the fatal shot during a scuffle with protesters outside one of his bars, claiming he “feared for his life” and it was self defense.

The killing and the decision not to charge has sparked further outrage. The victim was black, and the bar owner is white.

I fear gas just got poured on the fire there.

Why?

What's the law?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2020/06/01/trump-antifa-terrorist-organization/

With clips for the paywall challenged...

Quote
Trump’s declaration seems impossible to enforce — and not only because there is no mechanism for the president to designate domestic groups as terrorist organizations. Though antifa groups exist, antifa itself is not an organization. Self-identified antifa groups like Rose City Antifa in Portland, Ore., the oldest currently existing antifa group in the country, expose the identities of local Nazis and confront the far right in the streets. But antifa itself is not an overarching organization with a chain of command, as Trump and his allies have been suggesting. Instead, largely anarchist and anti-authoritarian antifa groups share resources and information about far-right activity across regional and national borders through loosely knit networks and informal relationships of trust and solidarity.

And in the United States, antifa have never killed anyone, unlike their enemies in Klan hoods and squad cars....

Quote
This is not the first time Trump or other GOP politicians have called for antifa to be declared a “terrorist” organization. So far, such calls have amounted to little more than rhetoric — but they carry an ominous potential. If antifa groups are composed of a wide range of socialists, anarchists, communists and other radicals, then declaring antifa to be a “terrorist” organization would pave the way to criminalizing and delegitimizing all politics to the left of Joe Biden.

But in the case of the George Floyd protests, right-wing attempts to blame everything on antifa — perceived by many to be predominantly white — evince a kind of racism that assumes that black people couldn’t organize on this deep and wide of a scale. Trump and his allies also have a more specific motive: If the flames and broken glass were simply blamed on “antifa” or “outsiders” — as if anyone had to travel very far to protest — then the urgency would shift from addressing the root causes of Floyd’s death to figuring out how to stop the shadowy boogeyman Trump rails against. Even if you disagree with property destruction, it’s easy to see the chain of events between Floyd’s death and burning police cars. Trump’s misinformation aims to mislead us all.

Bankshot

Check yourself ,Bud.

I didn’t edit two words out of a quick cut and paste and you’ve spent the whole day twisting yourself into a pretzel because you can’t admit you called me on a mistake and I copped to it.

Everything else is bullshit and you know it.

I made a mistake by posting a cut and paste pull quote from an article illustrated by the subject of said quote.

Everyone with an inkling of the subject knows Kaepernick has been out of the league for three years but yeah, I tried to ‘pull a fast one’ by captioning the post in past tense just to be misleading.

BTW

Michael Sam should have taken the Oprah money.

I never said you edited anything.

What you did, when I challenged your post as potentially misleading, was admit your data posted as "current" was actually from 2016.

It portrayed a misleading narrative.

And all I did was call you out on it.

And you got defensive and then accused me of challenging you because of racism.

Which as we both know is bullshit.

Seems you choked on the pretzel of pride rather than simply admit your subterfuge.

Get over it.

I am.

Speaking of getting over it

If Sam wanted to achieve his dream of being a pro football player and having a pro career he should have thanked Oprah for her interest but turn her down and try out for the team like everyone else. No special camera crews and reporters interfering with the team or others players as they tried to make the Rams as they prepared for the season. He took some very bad advice, which he finally understood upon some reflection.

Its unfortunate that you remain short-sighted as to what's really important.

pleasure as always trying to set you straight my black brother.

Dude, I forgot to edit “this week” from the quote. When you pointed out how you took it I said it was from 2016.

What does all the rest of this shit mean?

I captioned the original post with you HAD your chances. Protest peacefully it’s shut up and dribble... and here we are. That was my intent and with the exception of an admitted mistake those were my actions.

You taking it way around the bend. You tend to do that.

You still think America loved King as much as you?

Where the fuck is Michael Sam? Giving motivational speeches? Writing a book?

The bad advice he took was backing out of the deal with Oprah. He takes the deal and he is still making money and in today’s culture he is a fucking star.

He keeps his identity to himself he gets drafted in the mid rounds is a pass rushing beast and he make a squad, has a decent career comes out near the end and goes into Out type media and with his looks and demeanor he gets crossover work.

He comes out before the draft and there is no way in hell he makes a roster not then not ever.

He couldn’t work like everyone else because he wasn’t/isn’t like anyone else. NFL is about money.

As is Hollywood. Once he backed out of the deal he was done. “Whoa! You left OPRAH hanging? You have an agent? Fire him. You can’t pay a percentage of nothing, with nothing and that’s what you got, dig?”

No, Oprah didn’t blackball him he made himself poison, who would hire him and for what? Breaking a contract?

Do you still think America loved King as much as you and your family?

you always have to try and set me straight on shit that go beyond your frame of reference.

That’s some arrogant ass superiority thing,

All because I left in “this week” in a quote from an article that was obviously about peaceful protest being rejected.

You do you, Banksie.

Don’t ever change.

Trump was trespassing at St. John’s tonight. One of the many cops in attendance should have made the arrest.
