What is the usual length of service for the position she is leaving?  Seems to me it would be quite taxing.

She's below average, though the average for GOP Ambassadors to the UN is shorter than for the Dems over the last 40 or so years.

Whether  taxing or not, it is seldom more than a 4 year position. A couple of the early ones went 6 years.
