Sometime less than a month from now, we will hit the point at which 2% of the country will have contracted the coronavirus.

LOL!
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention pandemic planning documents point out
non-pharmaceutical interventions such as social distancing are ineffective once a disease infects 1% of a region's population. Literature on this subject is unanimous worldwide. According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control:

“There are no historical observations or scientific studies that support the confinement by quarantine of groups of possibly infected people for extended periods in order to slow the spread. It is hard to imagine that measures like those within the category of social distancing would not have some positive impact by reducing transmission of a human respiratory infection . . . However, the evidence base supporting each individual measure is often weak.”

Maybe it’s time for you to take a break and chill.

(a) Had we actually done a lockdown we would not have reached 1%.

I’m just guessing, of course, but are you making some point?

Not to you, Ward.

You are totally pointless.

Trump announced that the CDC had teams they could send to schools this fall.

It would have been nice if he had told them...

You knew it was coming.
HBO Max( owned by Warner Brothers ) is going to screen the 1974 Classic Mel Brooks  satire
Blazing Saddles.
But first you have to sit through a tutorial about how you should view the characters and what is funny, or
not funny.

Here’s what you’re supposed to laugh at, children…

Here’s what you’re not supposed to laugh at, children…

These are the good guys, children…

These are the bad guys, children…

If you have your own copy
cherish it.
Digitize it.

Most of all YOU explain it to your kids.

A good place to start?

Excuse me while I whip this out!

I can imagine Ward saying each of these and meaning them:

Rest in peace, Officer John Jeff

18 shot, 3 dead in NY last night.

Yes, anarchy and lawlessness return to the streets of NY.
Law, order, and peace in NY...cancelled.

Oh, Jacinda!

https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/14/asia/new-zealand-coronavirus-lockdown-intl-hnk/index.html

NZ went 100 days without a new Covid case....then, across the "Tasman" (Tasman Sea)...in Vic state bambuland the virus exploded...and was somehow imported into NZ via a company that operates in both countries...reportedly.

Harris anti Catholic?
Oh dear.

Wonder if she's anti Christian as well?
Someone should ask her and she should be made answer and define all her beliefs clearly and in a detailed manner.

There's an ignore option here?  How?

It's not terribly easy to find.
Just below the search bar, you select Profile.
Then choose Modify Profile
Then Edit Ignore List.
Then at bottom type in (or paste) member's name.

I put Red on ignore.  You see enough of his rants via other people's quotes.
He's mainly a brick wall troll.  But at least you get some version of what's going on in the hard right blogosphere.
I see now that  I had an earlier version of bambu on ignore, just too dumb to read I guess.  Apparently he swapped names at some point.

The GOP often thinks gov't should be run more like a business.  But they have different roles and functions.  Gov't is for everybody and often serves those most in need.  USPS is designed to cover the entire nation including folks in the far flung hinterlands.  It is a service which helps unify the country.  And in these days of store closings and online shopping, and people living longer, the postal service plays a key role in people getting their medications, and being able to participate in the economy.

Trump blithely tossed an extra $120B to the military.  If we need to pitch in to cover USPS expenses, that's a better investment in the country.  Sure you can look into cost-saving measures, and adapting to new conditions, but to start making massive changes in an election year, just a few months before an unusual set of circumstances means that the postal service will be a critical component of voting is reprehensible.  Trump has already given the game away that he's defunding USPS in order to limit voting (and cause voting chaos and confusion).
