UNO

If you can control yourself - as in not cursing me out - I will keep you off the iggy.  I championed your return to the boards - I think maybe a bit more respect is due.

COVID deaths in Canada yesterday: 2
COVID deaths in the US yesterday: 1,044

You don't see a lack of leadership and a total non-response by the Federal Government run by one Donald Trump to be the primary driver of the above difference, you are a fucking Trump Cultist.

Saw an excellent piece - I think from CNN - on US vs Canada re:  COVID.  I'll link to it if I can.  Hope you can agree to give it a look.

Trump downplayed the virus to forestall panic, yet gets on Twitter on a daily basis to yell and scream about things like  foreign "caravans" coming to kill us all.

You're a nitwit, Red.  But an educator.

Trump's primary tool of trade is scaring people.

It doesn't matter how many times it is pointed out to him that this is an obvious lie, he will repeat it because tax cuts.

Trump publicly downplayed the serious of the virus to forestall panic. So did Pelosi, who knew just as much as Trump did.

You have no idea what Pelosi knew.  As I pointed out, no, the House Leader does not receive every briefing the President does.

Again, it would be a very simple, provable, and very Trump-like defense to say "Pelosi knew what I knew."   So why doesn't he say that if it is true?

Ah I see.  Pelosi was ignorant and told people there was nothing to worry about

What Pelosi actually said re: COVID on that Chinatown visit -

“Prevention, prevention, prevention. We want people to be concerned and vigilant,” she said. “However, we don’t want them to be afraid.”

We want people to be concerned and vigilant is not saying there is nothing to worry about.

If Pelosi knew what Trump knew, why doesn't Trump say so, REDSTATEWARD?

So did Pelosi, who knew just as much as Trump did.
So did Fauci who knew more that both Trump and Pelosi knew

Pelosi did not know just as much as Trump did, no matter how often you repeat the claim that she did.

Fauci downplayed masks initially, then changed what he said. I disagree with his (and CDC's) choice to not push masks, even if I understand the reasoning.

Trump downplayed masks for months longer.  Months. And he is doing it again, now. NOT THE SAME, Asshole.

Trump claimed the coronavirus would just go away and that our 15 cases would be cured and that would be the end of it.

Fauci was busy warning us to prepare for a bigger problem.

It has nothing to do with my understanding of our government and everything to do with your being a lying sack of manure.

Thanks for the link kiidcarter8.  So...

- Better risk communication from leadership
- Better compliance with rules including mask wearing
- A more robust financial safety net
- Prioritization of science over political spin
- Widespread testing and contact tracing
- Total border closure starting on March 22
- Comforting daily briefings from their Prime Minister emphasizing national unity.

I think my post above stands.

Been a while for that one.

And yet in no year of his administration has Trump refrained from trying to generate panic over some sort of boogeyman which turns out to be largely unsupported by the facts as they come out.  That is the behavior of an authoritarian grasping power, not of a good leader of a democratic nation.

It has to be said, he not only downplayed masks, he actively sabotaged compliance by making wearing one a political litmus test.

It has to be said, he not only downplayed masks, he actively sabotaged compliance by making wearing one a political litmus test.

And added to that by mocking Biden for wearing one, which he has done repeatedly.
