Then there's also the conservative takeover of the courts -- including stealing two SCOTUS seats.

I think he only stole one.

Either blocking Obama was legit and this is one is stolen...

Or blocking Obama was not legit and this one is not stolen, but that was.

And the rapist who lied to the senate under oath. It’s not the same kind of theft, but it’s theft none the less.

Trump looked pale and sickly today.

They are editing the coughing fits out of his bunker videos, among the other effects they’re using to make him look this good.

You are right Barton. Members from both sides have zoomed into judicial hearings and votes.

We’ll have to jam their signals and cut their land lines, a small price to pay to maintain justice in this country.

So, you're advocating domestic terrorism.

Not cool, dude.

By helping Louis DeJoy get in position to ratfuck the post office, these guys have affirmatively waived any right to clear, timely, and effective communication.

Like trump they are sick, sick men.

On top of that, they have Covid.

Looks at research on viral myocarditis, its longterm damage,  and its prevalence in covid patients who are not elderly.   Again,  listen to science,  and not the usual ignorant clowns who want to believe getting covid is no big deal.

Ojo’s death was particularly mystifying because he appeared to have recovered from the virus. While he reported a cough, fever and chest pains in early July, a physical examination conducted on 5 August had indicated that he was well on the way back to full health.

A week earlier, scientists at University Hospital Frankfurt’s Centre for Cardiovascular Imaging had published a notable study, using MRI scans to study the hearts of 100 patients who had contracted the virus in the spring and since recovered. While this group of people were relatively young – the average age was 49 – and mainly reported mild symptoms while they had Covid-19, the scans revealed that 78 of them had abnormal structural changes to their hearts. Whether these problems dissipate with time remains to be seen...

We now know that the Sars-CoV-2 virus gains access to the heart through enzymes called ACE2 and TMPRSS2, the biological locks it picks to slip into human cells. Because these enzymes are present across the body, in lung, heart, kidney, liver, gut and brain tissue, this allows the virus to move from one organ system to another. The fact that circulating ACE2 levels are higher in men than women is thought to be one of the reasons why men seem to be more vulnerable to Covid-induced heart problems...

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/04/long-covid-the-evidence-of-lingering-heart-damage

ACE inhibitors are being considered, along with other cardio drugs,  as a way to mitigate heart damage.

The experimental treatment means trump’s doctors have been told to play down the severity of trump’s affliction or they are willing to risk their licenses on a potentially fatal attempt to disable him and prevent him from doing more real-time harm to the country. Trump is a nasty virus personified, so I’m not sure what their oath tells them to do. There seems to be equal evidence for either explanation at this point.

The huge upswell of republican infighting in the wake of trump’s collapse should be a boost to all their candidates down the stretch and help Trump himself rebound from support back down in the thirties which is far too low a mark to reflect his true natural support based on the brilliance of his government.

This is the pair of passages that make the headline that Kid objected to be just exactly right. In particular, I loved the red bolded line in which it was not necessarilytrue that they were trying to hide something.

Quote
Conley again failed to answer basic questions about the President's condition and admitted Sunday that he had omitted those alarming drops in the President's oxygen levels during Saturday's news conference because he wanted to "reflect the upbeat attitude" that the team and the President had about his condition and didn't want "to give any information that might steer the course of illness in another direction."

Conley acknowledged that his evasive answers "came off that we were trying to hide something" but said that "wasn't necessarily true," adding that the President is "doing really well" and is responding to treatment.

This was another winning passage:

Quote
The President has experienced "two episodes of transient drops in his oxygen saturation," Conley said Sunday. The first significant episode occurred late Friday morning when, Conley said, the President had "a high fever and his oxygen saturation was transiently dipping below 94%." The President was given oxygen at that point, Conley said, answering a question he had evaded during his Saturday briefing.

"After about a minute on only two liters, his saturation levels were back over 95%. He stayed on that for about an hour maybe, and it was off and gone," Conley said Sunday. Later on Friday, Conley said, Trump was out of bed, moving around the White House residence with only mild symptoms.

On Saturday, the President's oxygen level dropped again "to about 93%," Conley said. "We watched it and it returned back up." But the incident led doctors to start treating Trump with the steroid drug dexamethasone, which has been shown to help patients with Covid-19. It is typically given to patients on supplemental oxygen or ventilation.
Conley said the President's current blood oxygen level is 98%.

But Conley refused to say how low the President's blood oxygen levels had dropped during that first alarming episode at the White House.

When asked if the President's blood oxygen level had dropped below 90, he replied, "We don't have any recordings here of that." Pressed again on whether the level had dropped below 90, Conley said the President's blood oxygen levels didn't get down into "the low 80s."

Mid 80’s then. Sounds healthy. Non-zero chance he actually recovers at least some of the way.

Joe Biden, having helped his son, Hunter, control and overcome his addiction to cocaine, is just the man to help republicans in government let go of their even more sick relationship with power. Joe, with a firm but gravely voice can say, “leave it on the mirror, Mitch. It will be better for everyone, including you. You’ll see.”

Denialist asshole.

And Assholes:
White House pushes back against allegations of mixed messaging around the President's health

The Director of Strategic Communications spoke to the press. (Think about the implications of her title. Really!)
Quote
The White House has pushed back against allegations of mixed messaging after two briefings from the President's physicians at Walter Reed medical center have left the public with more questions than answers on the status of President Trump's health.

"Just candidly we've provided three letter updates from Dr. Conley who's given two on camera briefings, the President has spoken directly on camera twice. We've had Chief of Staff Meadows and Kayleigh give briefings, we're going to continue to do this you have my commitment you'll get regular updates," White House spokesperson Alyssa Farah told reporters after an interview on Fox News.

Farah also tried to explain the discrepancy between what White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and the President's doctors told reporters on Saturday as a "snapshot in time."

"It's kind of a snapshot in time. Saturday the President was doing extremely well, Friday was a little bit more concerning, but he continues to trend upward," Farah said Sunday. "So, Dr. Conley was giving an update from that morning. The other point I would make, which was what Conley alluded to, is when you're treating a patient, you want to project confidence, you want to lift their spirits and that was the intent, but of course Chief of Staff Meadows came out to give you guys more information just to try to be as transparent as you can be throughout this."
However, when Meadows first approached reporters on Saturday his comments to the press pool at Walter Reed were on background, not on the record.

"We can trust the information he's giving but if we later have supplementary information you have my commitment, we'll get that to you," Farah said of Dr. Conley.

When asked on Fox News about Conley's acknowledgement today that he wasn't as forthcoming yesterday with information about the President's health, she said the White House is "committed" to transparency but wanted to be careful with the information they share.

"We're committed to being transparent with the public, but what I've learned in these moments is that accuracy is more important than speed," Farah said.

On reports that Meadows is in the doghouse with Trump following the confusing messages coming from the administration on Saturday, she emphatically denied them.

"No, absolutely not, Mark Meadows has barely left the President's side," Farah said. "He has been at Walter Reed, hours a day working with him, bringing him different documents he's had to sign, briefing him on giving him Hill updates. Honestly, if anything, I think the chief of staff's comments reflect how close their relationship is that he's so close to this individual when he sees him in, you know not feeling well not his tough strong self that we all know, that he wanted to make sure to convey that to the public."
