How these assholes gonna protect their constituents when they can’t protect themselves?

Sen. Loeffler tested positive and is in quarantine

Just so funny, watching these dolts who spoke against sensible measures get sick, one after another.

I don't wish them ill, but... they sure are asking for it, aren't they?!

The Republican-led Board of Supervisors in Maricopa County, Ariz., voted unanimously Friday to certify the county’s election results, with the board chairman declaring there was no evidence of fraud or misconduct “and that is with a big zero.”

The top GOP lawmakers in Pennsylvania, where counties must submit their official results by Monday, have said they have no role in deciding the winner of the state’s electoral college votes, writing in an op-ed last month that the law “plainly says that the state’s electors are chosen only by the popular vote of the commonwealth’s voters.”

For those who kept holding up Sweden as an example...

https://www.politico.eu/article/discontent-rises-in-sweden-as-coronavirus-cases-spike/

But since they only held Sweden up as an example because it was convenient and seemed in opposition to what the Democratic Party was pushing, facts continue to have zero bearing on their positions.

People grossly unclear on the concepts.

Another recount only would serve to try to delay things. We've figured that out, Jenna. Give it a fucking rest.

So, they will get another recount, but the votes are already certified, which means it would require a revolutionary change to get a different result and even if they slow this down the way they are trying to in Wisconsin, the prior result will stand until there is reason to doubt it, which there is not nor has there been.

Quote
The President's legal team have officially filed for another recount in Georgia, it has been confirmed. It was one of the state's mentioned by Donald Trump during his various accusations of vote fraud, but no evidence has yet been provided to support his claim. State election officials have already carried out a mandatory hand recount of the 5 million votes cast in recent days, with Biden again declared the winner.

The timing for this is a little odd, coming just a day after Georgia's Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger certified the result for Joe Biden. The final count had the President-elect ahead by over 12,000 votes, making it extremely unlikely that a recount will make any difference.

But...

Quote
"Today, the Trump campaign filed a petition for recount in Georgia. We are focused on ensuring that every aspect of Georgia State Law and the U.S. Constitution are followed so that every legal vote is counted. President Trump and his campaign continue to insist on an honest recount in Georgia, which has to include signature matching and other vital safeguards," the Trump campaign said in a statement.

Signature matching for mail-in ballots is not done in recounts, however, according to campaign law expert Jonathan Diaz, a CNN contributor. Comparing of signatures on envelopes of mail-in ballots to those on file is done earlier in the process. The Trump campaign was upset more ballots were not thrown out because of signature issues.

Diaz said "no recount is going to change" the margin of more than 12,000 votes.

"There's no real point in them doing so, other than to continue to drag out this process and cause further delays," Diaz said. "It is a time of nonsense," he said of the recount request. "The war is over."

And they weren't thrown out because there was nothing wrong with them.

I've been enjoying Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty coverage lately.
A good recent discovery.
https://www.rferl.org/
They have a lot of coverage on small Euro countries.

Small Euro countries fill many of the top rankings in "best countries to live" list on YouTube.

I could definitely see myself living in Montenegro or Macedonia.  Croatia is beautiful but not sure I felt as much connection to the people/lifestyle there.

Bulgaria and Romania are pleasant and bargains since a good chunk of the populace left for Western Europe.

I quite liked Estonia and Lithuania, but probably too cold for my taste.
Plus Russia always lurking nearby (Kaliningrad and lots of Russkies in eastern Latvia)

Denmark and Holland are probably terrific, but I haven't been (yet).
Scandanavia has that Winter problem.

The Caucasus were interesting, but probably not what you had in mind by best small Euro countries, and a bit too much of that Russian macho swagger for me.  Georgia was pretty messy but people were friendly; Armenia had potential but needs some friends.

Pretty clear the point of these Trump lawsuits isn't to win them or get any positive judicial results, it's to undermine the democratic process, rally his base, delay certification, and have a flimsy legalistic case to try to persuade GOP state legislatures to muck up the process by illegally selecting a slate of electors against the voters decision.

The end game is to subvert the voting results.
And if that doesn't hold up, then store up grievances that trump can manipulate and hamper Biden's legitimacy.

Trump has really proven to be a cancer on democracy which isn't something he really favors.  It's all about Trump and he doesn't care how much damage he does to any institutions or pillars of democracy on his way out.

If Trump refuses to leave the WH, I wouldn't have him merely escorted out, I'd have him arrested for treason.

I have just the place for you...Australia.
No community transmissions of Covid anywhere for about 10 days now...and no deaths.
No freezing winters.
No shovelling snow...unless you deliberately choose to go live in the "Snowy Mountains" small region in NSW and the same in Victoria.
Healthcare, wages systems basically the same as those small Euro countries.
Speak english.
Choice of 5 major cities.
Walk around the CBDs of some of those cities and you could fell like you are in Beijing or Shanghai.
Watch the tv and you'd be likely to see Trump and Biden on every news program.
Got KFC, McDonalds, Hungry Jacks etc.
Just like home, but different.

I enjoyed Kiev, Prague, and Copenhagen. I think Kiev is... a bit unstable in some important ways at the moment. As a former New Hampshirite, I can't say that Copenhagen's temperature is especially daunting.

I didn't find my fairly brief time in Australia particularly moving.

Hong Kong was probably my favorite of the five far east cities I visited, but for some reason right now it does not seem especially appealing! I'd probably have an easier time landing a job in Tokyo than any of the others (Seoul, Taipei, Singapore, Hong Kong/Kowloon), but neither of my work experiences there made me love dealing with its... approach to life, in or out of my fields. Nor does it seem like a good place for retiring, should I ever wish to do so.

If I were skipping major cities, then I could see myself in Neustift im Stubaital, which I thoroughly enjoyed but which lacked a certain... substance to it - but I was there in pre-internet days and the lack of ready books would be less of a problem now than it was then. And Innsbruck is a lovely small city. Too, my wife's Yiddish and my lingering high school German might allow us to exist as other than tourists, which would be nice.

Bo don't watch no Tv neither.
American crap culture isn't terribly enticing to me.
I actually haven't been in the USofA since 2008.

Out of all the countries I visited, the two that were least appealing to me were Australia and Morocco.

Tasmania seemed like the far end of the earth.
Sydney seemed okay, but limited.
I thought I'd like Australia and want to go back, but it seemed pretty bland to me.
People seemed to be just biding their time and directionless.  Probably awaiting orders from their Chinese overlords.

For Morocco, I didn't like the food or the patriarchal culture.
Maybe just needed to get under the surface.
But Australia seemed all surface ...

Mrs bambu spent a few days in Hong Kong, Communist China in 2017.
She did not like it much.
I was very happy when she was out of the place...CC has a bad habit of detaining Aussies and there's no way of getting them back.
She liked Japan...stayed with 4 different families in 4 different cities for a week each...stayed in hotel in Tokyo for 3 days...walked almost all of of the city.
