All of the linked polling data shows the big policy items in the Democratic agenda are more popular than Democratic candidates turned out to be and significantly more popular than republican candidates and the bullshit they proposed.

This is by no means conclusive, but the data so far leads one to the opinion that rather than any problem with Democratic policies, refraining to add fuel to our national disaster, further fucking nurses, doctors, small businesses and families, as the republicans did so gleefully, by in person outreach and crowded rallies cost Democrats millions of votes across the country.

Close contact outreach based on the policies referenced in those polls would have led to a once in a century blowout and Democratic ascension rather than the unremarkable ass whooping that the Democrats managed to hand the republicans fighting with one hand tied behind their back, as parties that aren’t death cults do during a pandemic featuring airborne infectious spread.

Meanwhile, here on Earth...

A good post, banks.

Clearly, Rabbi Larry doesn't get it.

Maybe maybe not.

He might get it, like kid with his sudden concern for covid, might get some of it, but people get locked into their own bullshit-propaganda and can't admit they might have been mistaken.

so they make the same mistake again, and wonder what went wrong.

knicks was warned months ago dems should not scare moderate and indy voters but he insisted America had changed and it was the time to GO BIG.

It wasn't.

He was so convinced that America reached a kumbaya moment.

We didn't.

He didn't get it then.

I don't know if he gets it now.

Give the Repubs credit they got a lot of mileage and votes from defund  the police and socialism and the greening-AOCing of Anerica.

A lot of America was scared of Trump and the possibility of GO BIG Dem-socialists

and some might have been afraid of Willie Horton moving into the suburbs

but I really don't think Willie was an issue in this election

this might have been more about fears of a small Latinx women from the Bronx.

Being a moderate is like being a middle child in a large family.

You clearly see how the oldest (conservatives) and the youngest (progressives) get it wrong and where, but each of them is quick to dismiss your perspective or label it as being in alignment with their opposition.

And at the same time, they count on you to make the peace between them.

Soldier on, moderates!

I bet you thought that proved something.

In the marketplace of ideas, only the best salespeople make progress. Calling people crackers is hardly a way to make inroads with the folks whom you wish to come to your aid.

Bigot.

Thank you for your pearly offering, Uno. You are definitely the peacemaker and leader to compromise, as you so often demonstrate with your diplomacy and inoffensive word choice.

I’m not selling policy.

I’ve been calling crackers “cracker” for decades now, yet these progressive policies keep growing more and more popular all over the country.

As for my bigotry, you got me. I have a knee jerk negative reaction to idiots who, having mastered mouth breathing, feel they now are qualified to offer wisdom on a host of topics. It’s probably because of the knowledge that I’ll be taking care of them in their old age as it seems unlikely at this point that they will ever learn enough about the world to take care of themselves.

By the way, calling crackers “cracker” is the definition of white privilege properly applied.

Give the Repubs credit they got a lot of mileage and votes from defund  the police and socialism and the greening-AOCing of Anerica.

I agree here. Where the Democrats could learn something from the Republicans is how adept they are at marketing or messaging.
The republicans come up with their talking point of the day/month/year and they all stick to it, amplifying the volume.

Democrats are split into factions like the center-leaning democrats and the left leaning ones.  The left, using social media platforms which amplify extreme viewpoints, has had their hand on the volume knob pumping something very to their taste.  Like my upstairs neighbor who plays EDM early in the morning.  Wrong time for that noise!

Still, movements are galvanized from extremes not centers.  I'm not telling the Dems to muzzle their more progressive voices.  They need those voices.

But where the Dems could learn is by attacking Republicans.  Republicans play all offense and no defense. They pit the dems on the defensive like Max Rose who said "of course I would never defund the police". Republicans attack democratic positions and they paint all dems with the same brush by using the more extreme dem voices as a foil for the entire party.

Democrats IMHO should start using terms like Radical Right Wing Agenda, and American Taliban to describe the Republicans.  Every democrat should start calling republicans Radical Right Wing Zealots who would push America backwards and  to self-desctuct our Democracy in a taliban style fashion.  Really hammer home that the Republicans are trying to turn the clock back to a time where white-christian-male majority rule was the norm.

That is a good read on the situation, Kam.

With republicans getting worse and worse every day, brutally shitting on republicans for their degradation and depravity is a good focus for all reasonable Americans of every non-fraudulent political stripe.

It may even wake a few republicans up to the fact that they are suckers being conned.

I like crackers, with cheese or a dab of peanut butter, or sometimes crumbled up in my soup.

When I was a kid my dad (RIP) used to make about 6 peanut butter on Ritz crackers around 10pm or so. Seemed like a nightly Ritzual (heh)

The memories that get joggecd loose.

I digress

One wonders about the imapct of local campaigning in the midst of a pandemic. Repubs held large rallies and perhaps engage in door to door campaigning and the dems didn't, owing to safety over virus spreading. That may have made a difference.

But IMO the scare tactics of socialism-defund the police-court packing- etc. pushed mods and indies to the right.

I guess I'll have to wait for the book to come out.
