Trump goes out smacked around by the GOP Senate Caucus. His veto is overridden bigly on the Defense Spending Bill and his survival check bump up to 2k never saw the floor.

2021 begins with republicans at each other’s throats as they demonstrate time and again that they can’t help their constituents at all when it comes to matters of life and death.

US companies secretly owned by China:

3. US govt banned the sale of one hotel as it was right next to a US naval base.

YouTube video  " U.S. Companies secretly Owned by China"

(a) I love #3 - somehow, don't you think that one doesn't belong on the list?!

(b) Boy, that sure is some secret! Nobody knows this information. Must be why some random YouTube poster could stick it up for everybody to see. How ever did they figure out this amazing set of secrets?!

Here's the first example I came up with after a single Google search:
https://www.cnn.com/2012/05/21/business/china-amc-wanda-theater/index.html

The issue has been in the news since then, including pretty much every discussion of AMC and $$ during the pandemic, with such obscure publications as the BBC.

Bet the rest of them are at about that level of "secret."

no 3 is part of no2.

search that youtube video...and there are a lot of others as well detailing how The US is being sold off to China.

Then it's your reporting failure? Okay.

Still, none of that is secret, Bambu. All of it was known, both to the government and to the public that cared.

And that oh so valuable youtube (whose link you did not provide, so no, I cannot watch it) neglected to mention that the Motorola acquisition was done by Lenovo, another "secret" Chinese company.

My guess is that most Americans don't know about it all.

Here we are in the new year!

20,000,000 doses have been made!

12,400,000 doses have been distributed.

10,000,000 doses (roughly) are still sitting on shelves, not yet used.

A lot of people have been vaccinated, but not anywhere near what Operation Warp Speed said would happen.

And it's been a constant case of diminishing and delayed expectations.

Whose responsible for our failure to deliver the meds we said we would have out by the new year?! That one's not on the states. Nor is it the drug companies' fault.

It's the feds.

Skipping the pre-election rhetoric from Trump, in November we were told:
Quote
11/13/2020 05:46 PM EST

Roughly 20 million people could be vaccinated against the coronavirus in December, the head of the Trump administration's vaccine and drug accelerator said Friday.

Americans can expect that about 25 to 30 million people could be vaccinated each month afterward, said Moncef Slaoui, co-lead of Operation Warp Speed, during a Rose Garden event with President Donald Trump and other top health officials.

By early December, a month later, it was:
Quote
Slaoui emphasized that it’s important for all Americans who get the Moderna or the Pfizer vaccine to come back three or four weeks after their initial vaccine to get their second dose in order to complete the immunization schedule.

Fortunately, he added, the investments OWS has made in scaling up allows OWS to feel confident that it will be able to distribute 20 million vaccines in December, followed by 60 million doses in January, and 100 million doses by February.

My guess is that most Americans don't know about it all.

Or care.

But it's not because it was secret, Bambu.

There was no secrecy involved, just apathy.

"Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun" - Chairman Mao.
Wise man was Chairman Mao.

James Madison was much better than Mao, and we have the right to own guns in our Bill of Rights. James Madison was brilliant.

God bless the USA.

Australia should invite the Russians to vacation in Australia, as well as the people from the Ukraine, and Poland, Slovena, etc. The people from countries where it is cold can go on vacation in Australia where it is nice and warm.

The Canadians and the Americans already vacation in Australia, Australia can expand tourism by marketing tourism to the Russians, etc.

Salute,

Tony V.

Long way from Russia etc to Australia.
Spain, Greece etc a lot closer and cheaper.
Best to  check the weather pattern in Australia before touring...presently in La Nina pattern...wet, wet, more wet, and windy..almost like living in Seattle.

Senator Mitt Romney on Friday urged the U.S. government to immediately enlist veterinarians, combat medics and others in a sweeping proposal to administer coronavirus vaccinations and slow the rising death toll.

The 2012 Republican presidential nominee called for action after it emerged that 2.8 million Americans had received their first dose, far short of the 20 million the Trump administration promised by the end of 2020.

"That comprehensive vaccination plans have not been developed at the federal level and sent to the states as models is as incomprehensible as it is inexcusable," Romney said in a statement.

More than 345,000 people have died from COVID-19 in the United States, equal to one in every 950 people. The country ranks 16th in per capita deaths in the world.

Meanwhile, the United States was set to pass another milestone on Friday, surpassing 20 million cases since the start of the pandemic with a record number of 125,000 COVID-19 patients in the hospital.

With Democratic President-elect Joe Biden not taking office until Jan. 20, Romney is one of the few leading Republicans to openly criticize fellow Republican President Donald Trump.

Romney called for deploying veterinarians, emergency medical workers and medical students to deliver vaccinations and setting up sites such as school buildings that are largely empty because of the pandemic.

Good idea, Mitt.

It was up to the states to have a plan

But it should not have been, Kid. As with the PPE, it should always have been a federal plan. The states have limited budgets, limited staffing, limited expertise... they can't just print money the way the feds can and do.

And if the states had a plan and the feds screwed up the delivery, which they did, then it's on the feds still.

Good try, though.

Sure, but if he had ever been good, there would have been many fewer.

Brady had many fewer critics than Trump had on his best day because his best day was still not good, despite your cheerleading.

Or, in terms you seem to understand, Trump is like the NJ Generals - no matter how bad they were, they always had fans.

Your usual incisive analysis, explaining what parts you think are sloppy and why you think it should have said instead.

Fix it for us, Uncle Kid!

(And not nearly as sloppy as the distribution by the Feds to the states.)
