America's COVID response ranks among WORST in world: US in 94th place out of 98 and just above IRAN in shocking new studyThe US came 94th out of 98 countries ranked on their handling of CV-19:
98. Brazil in last place in the study by the Lowy Institute.
97. Mexico
96. Colombia
95. Iran
94. Trumpistan (fka USofA)
.
.
For the most part, small countries and island nations with smaller populations, cohesive societies and competent gov't did best:
1. New Zealand
2. Vietnam
3. Taiwan
4. Thailand
5. Cyprus
6. Rwanda
7. Iceland
8. Australia
9. Latvia
10. Sri Lanka
Though Vietnam has close to 100M people; Thailand 70M.
Surprised to see Rwanda on the list.
Two theories on why Africa (aside from South Africa) didn't get hit too hard by CV-19: most of the population is young & there aren't many travel links with the rest of the world (and most got shut down by Northern countries before the Virus spread).
Though South America got hit hard and I'm not sure what the differences are -- maybe SA is more urbanized, a bit older and more connected to the US and Mexico which did terrible jobs of handling the virus. The latter point is probably key/decisive.
