The real stickers are one, that a sitting president can't be indicted,  and two,  that trying for impeachment  is hopeless without a Dem supermajority.  All this stuff where Ind1 can claim he was unaware of any illegality will offer GOPs a path to saying that impeachment is not merited and would threaten the stability of the government.  For sure,  that's what will happen with the new Inaugural fund investigation.

Good grief,  another Utley sock puppet.

Because such an assertion would be easily contradicted by the facts.  Two witnesses say he was in the room during discussions, and knew exactly what he was doing.  And of course there is the fact that Trump lied about knowing about the payments.  Usually a good indication that a perp knows they did something wrong when they lie about it.

And that includes Ms. Conway, who hilariously is now out there denying the denials when they are on tape.

This is Trump we're talking about.  I think a lawyer could always develop an argument that Trump doesn't know what he's doing.  Of course...that might go in a direction Trump finds humiliating and leads back to the 25th Amendment again.

I really hope you're right, and that my pessimism is not warranted anymore.  I've watched the GOP congress coalition drop the bar lower and lower for the past 2 years and I fear that if Trump doesn't shoot somebody or perhaps rape a nun or a girl scout taking a WH tour, that other malfeasance will be defended on the basis Oilcan describes.  And of course the lying about knowledge of payments will be retrofitted as "misremembering."

One advantage of being coated with slime, like the Slimeball in Chief, is that slime is a lubricant.

Meanwhile, in Arizona, as predicted, Kyl has chosen to step down.

He's said he would evaluate things at the end of this Congress and he has.

I think it's entirely possible that Trump originally wanted one term, and is going for a second term because it extends his indictment shield for another 4 years.

Sinema gets sworn in Jan. 3.  So she and McSally could be in the queue together.  Will there be a shoving match in the queue to see who gets to be "senior senator from Arizona" ?  Or do they do it in a group ceremony?  I must google...

No guarantee it is McSorley at this point. A lot of the AZ Republican leadership is upset that after her loss she blamed everyone but herself. Ducey's Chief of Staff is a possibility. It is also possible he will appoint someone like Cindy McCain and let the people who want the job long term fight it out in 2020 rather than situate a person as an incumbent.

ACLU

Hi Tony –

A seven-year-old girl, who had been picked up by Border Patrol with her father, has just died in U.S. government custody. She was dehydrated and in shock.

I'm disgusted. I'm heartbroken. How could this happen?

What we know is that the Trump administration's Department of Homeland Security has been terrorizing and abusing immigrants with impunity for far too long. From firing tear gas at toddlers to tearing children out of their parents' arms to putting children in jail cells and tent cities, DHS has violated basic human rights – and American values – over and over.

It's time to hold DHS accountable for its long history of abuse. Here's what we can do together right now: Stop Congress from giving DHS increased funding to fuel its abuses.

I promise you that we're going to fight Trump's war on immigrants and our American values with everything we've got. We've been in this struggle since day one of the Trump administration – and we're not letting up an inch in 2019.

Before the year closes, Congress will have to decide whether to reward DHS for its behavior and give the agency a raise. We can't let that happen – send your message to your representatives now.

En la lucha,

Lorella Praeli

-----

This is not who we are.

The USA is for everyone, and they are welcomed by our Statue of Liberty.

On the issue of the caravans from the south...

The best idea is to build more legal processing centers, and more legal border crossings, etc. And there could be tent cities built to help the people. The unions in the USA can help, the unions can tell the workers where the job are. There are jobs working in the vineyards and in the fields, and there are construction jobs in the areas hit by hurricanes and fires, etc. The unions know where the jobs are. And also the universities can be there to help the people who want to study in the USA, etc. The hospitals can be there to hire nurses. Etc, etc, etc. There can be new tent cities built, and the people can be sent to where they are needed, etc.

And we can have a giant WOODSTOCK concert on our southern border to raise money for lawyers, and for the tent cities to act as processing centers, and for whatever else.

We need sane immigration policies, we need to have a GOOD NEIGHBOR policy for our good Christian neighbors, we need to allow them to live in the USA, and they can go to school here, and they can work here, and we need to make it easy for them to become citizens, etc, etc, etc.

Salute,

Tony V.

Cindy would be an interesting choice.

This is a good time to be supporting the ACLU.

As noted in the story, the judge is known as a moderate, rather than a pro-environmental, voice.

Killer who shot dead and wounded people in the Christmas market in France shouted ALLAHU AKBAR before firing, reportedly.
Yes, another Muslim killer terrorist, it seems.
France was warned long ago what would happen if it went down a certain path.
It refused to listen, instead 'punishing' those doing the warning.
And now it has what it has.

Time drastic measures were taken to stop the slaughter...in France and elsewhere in the Christian West.

"Frexiteers" were active at the recent riots in Paris.
"Frexit" is one of the solutions, there are others.
