Excerpt:
Quote

'Today, the scientific evidence verges on irrefutable. If you’re younger than sixty, you have a good chance of witnessing the radical destabilization of life on earth—massive crop failures, apocalyptic fires, imploding economies, epic flooding, hundreds of millions of refugees fleeing regions made uninhabitable by extreme heat or permanent drought. If you’re under thirty, you’re all but guaranteed to witness it.

If you care about the planet, and about the people and animals who live on it, there are two ways to think about this. You can keep on hoping that catastrophe is preventable, and feel ever more frustrated or enraged by the world’s inaction. Or you can accept that disaster is coming, and begin to rethink what it means to have hope.'

Pertaining to the issue of the economy in California...

We need more entertainment industry jobs here in California, we have been losing jobs to Canada, and to other places. We need to bring film and television jobs back to California.

We have great film schools here in Southern California, and we have great acting schools, etc, and there needs to be jobs here for the students after they graduate.

Also, Anaheim needs a movie studio, and the Antelope Valley needs a studio for the people who want to film in the desert.

We need to give tax breaks to people who create entertainment industry jobs here in California, and there needs be incentives for people to open new movie studios in California.

Of note too, Mojave needs to be zoned for manufacturing, Richard Branson and others are doing work there, and many new jobs can be created in Mojave for the people of the Antelope Valley.

We also need our high speed trains. The high speed rail between Lancaster and Los Angeles needs to be done as soon as possible, and we also need a high speed train between Anaheim and Las Vegas.

Salute,

Tony V.

P.S.

Electric cars can be built in Mojave.

I want to buy an electric Jeep, maybe they can manufacture electric Jeeps in Mojave.

Salute,

Tony V.

Dog breath has 3 GOP primary challengers. He’s running like a rat, not against them, but from them. I don’t think the extra greasy bucket is going to make it to the general election.

Thirdly, they did it because they know — everybody knows — that members of the current Tory leadership have chosen this destructive path not for the sake of the country, not for the well-being of the British, not for the future of their children, but because they are afraid that, having promised Brexit and failed to deliver, they will lose the next election. They are putting party over country. By contrast, the 21 Tory rebels have decided to put country over party, indeed country over career, in defiance of their leaders.

These 21 rebels, in other words, stood up against a national leader from their own party in order to prevent him from harming the country, undermining the constitution and damaging democracy. Imagine how different American politics would be if we could find 21 Republican senators to do the same.

This was followed by Johnson's brother's resigning because he felt the need to put country ahead of family and by a cabinet minister's resigning as well.

The argument has been made that they are just looking ahead to opportunities that will come their way by preserving their party and I said, "I'll take even that from their American counterparts!"

They usually call them Hatch chiles, not Hatch peppers, down there on the island.   The produce under the sign appears to be Hass avocados.  Mix the two, add lime juice and onion, and you have guacamole nirvana.  I like it so much I have eaten sandwiches that are just bread and guacamole.

And now the Brits are picking on Gillian Anderson for playing Thatcher and saying something that bordered on kind about her.  The whole world is so polarized right now.  When men play historical monsters, and discuss finding some sympathetic aspect of the character, people just say he's a good actor who really commits to the role.  FFS!

Among 18 states that will hold primaries or caucuses early in 2020, including those on Super Tuesday, Warren stands at 26% about even with Biden at 25%, with Sanders in third place at 19%. Harris trails behind with 8% along with Buttigieg (6%) and former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke (4%). Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro and New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker each have 2% support across these states, with the rest of the Democratic field at 1% or less.
