At no point have I argued against her right to be armed.

At no point have you acknowledged that there's a far greater likelihood that the gun will be used to kill her or her kids or her kids' friends than her using to kill " two male thugs breaking in armed with a knife [or guns]."

If you think the far greater chance of an innocent being killed by the gun is the mere cost of doing business then go ahead and say so.

The obvious answer is:
. Disarm everyone, no guns at all. None for hunting, none for farmers, none for gangsters, none for anyone. No handguns, no assault rifles...all guns gone.

Only army, cops etc to have guns.

Your brilliance is dizzying.

Isn't that what you want?

For only police/military to have guns?

Or for you to be brilliant?

We should keep some guns around to scare off Australian squatter types. They are repulsive and too dense to manage a conversation.

I guess we could use really big dogs instead of guns.

Whether or not you think Camp David talks with the Taliban were a good idea, our "president" canceled them because the deal which he has had no hand in shaping would have been completed beforehand, and he wanted to be perceived (true or not) as the "deal maker."

The narrative right now is that Trump is "losing it."  But that's false.  This is who he always was.  And anyone who thought that being elected POTUS would moderate his shitty personality instead of making it exponentially worse is, quite frankly, a complete idiot.

There is a general increase in the desire for authoritarian leaders who present the world, and governing, in simpler terms.  Josh, you may have seen the article in Politico, about the social scientist who predicts the demise of democracy.

https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2019/09/08/shawn-rosenberg-democracy-228045

Quote
Compared with the harsh demands made by democracy, which requires a tolerance for compromise and diversity, right-wing populism is like cotton candy. Whereas democracy requires us to accept the fact that we have to share our country with people who think and look differently than we do, right-wing populism offers a quick sugar high. Forget political correctness. You can feel exactly the way you really want about people who belong to other tribes.

Right-wing populists don’t have to make much sense. They can simultaneously blame immigrants for taking jobs away from Americans while claiming that these same people are lazy layabouts sponging off welfare. All the populist followers care is that they now have an enemy to blame for their feelings of ennui.

And unlike democracy, which makes many demands, the populists make just one. They insist that people be loyal. Loyalty entails surrendering to the populist nationalist vision. But this is less a burden than an advantage. It’s easier to pledge allegiance to an authoritarian leader than to do the hard work of thinking for yourself demanded by democracy.

All of us who value democracy will have to be active and relentless.

Actually the best argument for open borders is it scares them away, makes them cower in their mom's basement.

LOL You would have a stronger argument for your TDS had the deal been accepted. It would have led to a pullout of US troops and the return of an Islamic  caliphate; I bet you would not be cheering that.  Talk about a repeat of a  Viet Nam debacle.
