Oh, Those scientists!

For years the brains at the American Heart Association and World Cancer Research Fund
warned us of dangers associated with eating red meat.
In 2015 the World Health Organization classified processed red meat ( in reality ALL red meat) as a carcinogen.

But now, in a new study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, the guideline "suggests that adults continue current unprocessed red meat … (and) processed meat consumption.”

"It's a form of patriarchy if we just tell people they should eliminate or reduce their meat consumption," said Bradley Johnston, the lead study author. "We don't believe that there should be broad public health recommendations, almost like scare tactics, for the population as a whole."

So there.

Too bad people cannot, say, test out health recommendations in their own lives.   Like, you could not eat red meat for a while, see how your system reacts to that.

Seriously, most health benefits in dietary change are keenly depending on overall context.  If you stop red meat and, as a result, eat more fiber and more vegetables and so on, that's going to be a different experience than replacing the meat with Cheezits.

The battle between the two sides of this debate, as this explainer at news site Vox shows, involves technical disputes about how to construct scientific studies in the real world, and which ones are more reliable, and why. The limitation of all these studies is that they’re all flawed.

It’s not possible to control for all variables, unless the participants were confined to a laboratory for years, if not decades. That’s why researchers frequently caution readers that their conclusions suggest correlation rather than causation.

All such studies naturally have theoretical flaws, says Jane Uzcategui, professor of nutrition and food studies at Syracuse Universities. But the observational studies about the risks of red meat are so many, and so big, that we should give them a lot of weight, she adds.

“The fact that we’ll never have any better evidence does not make it good evidence,” adds Guyatt.

Polling based primarily on the release of one piece of evidence.  There will be more.

Or lied to the American public about having no business deals with Russia when his org was negotiating for a mega-tower in Moscow that could have netted Trump up to $100M and a project of that size would need Putin's blessing (so much so, that Trump underlings considered gifting Putin a penthouse).

I'm really not sure why this bombshell dropped out of the conversation.

https://www.businessinsider.com/pro-trump-group-behind-aoc-protester-calling-to-eat-babies-2019-10

Sorry, I forget how to make links pretty here.

This is a link to an article that identifies the woman at an AOC townhall who wore a shirt that included "Eat The Babies" as a far right plant.

So OK... But what I first thought when I heard about the shirt was Thomas Swift's pamphlet "A Modest Proposal" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Modest_Proposal

I was a little disconcerted that AOC or SOMEONE didn't catch the reference (if indeed it was intended or even if it wasn't) and give a chuckle, to this nyuckle head.

So I thought I might bring it here to see what the smart kids have to say about it.

FWIW, my congressman asked me if he should go forward with an Impeachment program. I said "Yes" Not that Trump will be convicted, but it gives the Dems at least the copy. At least they can use it against the Senators running, and House hosers too. "(S)He won't break with Trump even when he is so wrong as to put his own economic interests ahead of people being killed in Ukraine." (Trump wants to be re-elected because he makes a fortune off his graft and corruption and emollients as he immolates the Constitution!)

One more thing:

The future is That a way--->
<----Not That a was!

PLAU,
Wait... who the hell am I here?
Oh, that's right

Mitt stating the obvious:

When the only American citizen President Trump singles out for China’s investigation is his political opponent in the midst of the Democratic nomination process, it strains credulity to suggest that it is anything other than politically motivated.

Asked today on the White House Lawn if there are any Americans Trump has asked foreign governments to investigate who are not political opponents Trump said "I'll get back to you on that."

I ran Red’s “LOL” through google translate. It returned “He-Haw!”, confirming the widely held understanding that the language Red speaks is Ass.

There's very little meat on that natural alternative, the squirrel.  Though I've heard it's a popular dish in Appalachia.  As well as Red's household.

http://www.vox.com/identities/2019/10/4/20898500/trump-economy-september-jobs-report

Wages fall and all most new jobs employ Americans in diapering republicans, either as home health aides or sex workers. Those positions are all part time and put workers at grave risk of catching a terminal GOP disease.

As did I.  I commented on the eating babies thing on the previous page, briefly.  It's basically a way to catch AOC out for not roundly condemning the eating of babies.  Sure, supporters are trying to cover this horrendous gaffe by suggesting she was compassionately not calling out someone who was clearly mentally ill or they are even arrogantly assuming that no one reallly needs to condemn the eating of babies due to some imagine hypothetical agreement that no one is really in favor of infantophagy.  But clearly, the infantophagists are out there in force and AOC has failed to grapple with this profound threat.  Thus, tacitly, she has sanctioned the eating of babies, further confirming that she is a demon harpy bent on turning us all into burlap-wearing bicycle-riding Gaia worshippers.

It's Jonathan Swift, btw.
