The "mandate of heaven".  Even heaven seems to have relaxed its standards.

I don't think Trump understands that when most of us use the expression "in my unmatched wisdom," it is used facetiously.

Or that saying "destroy and obliterate" is redundant.

That didn’t take long.

This is just so infuriating.  These are OUR GUYS.

We trained them, we fought with them, they wear American flags on their uniforms to honor the alliance, and we promised to protect them.

And now we just stand aside as they are attacked.

A true low point in the history of our international alliances.

Jeff Daniels will play James Comey in a TV adaptation of the former FBI director’s memoir A Higher Loyalty, it was announced on Monday. The news swiftly followed that Brendan Gleeson will play opposite Daniels – as Donald Trump.

Gleeson, I will note, played a mobster (contract killer) in the film In Bruges.

US is considering withdrawing from Open Skies Treaty:

Washington—Representative Eliot L. Engel, Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today decried the Trump Administration’s reported plans to withdraw the United States from the Open Skies Treaty. In a letter to White House National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien, Chairman Engel underscored that withdrawal would be a gift to Russia and a blow to United States national security interests, endangering Ukraine and other key European allies.

“American withdrawal would only benefit Russia and be harmful to our allies’ and partners’ national security interests.... Withdrawal risks dividing the transatlantic alliance and would further undermine America’s reliability as a stable and predictable partner when it comes to European security,” urged Engel.

Hard to see these recent news events as anything but Putin cashing in his chips now that Impeachment is on the horizon.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights denied a report by SANA earlier on Monday evening claiming that Turkey had conducted airstrikes in Syria against the Syrian Democratic Forces. According to the SOHR, the airstrikes targeted targets in Iraq.

A White House official stated later on Monday night that the US has not seen any signs of a Turkish operation in Syria yet, according to Steve Herman, a reporter from Voice of America news.

So you just read the headline, I guess

Finally matching the domestic treaties we have signed over the centuries.

(Now we wait until Ward appears to tell us that's absurd.)
