It’s too soon to tell whether Russia will be able to manage the new volatility in Syria, just as it’s not clear if the impeachment furor over Ukraine will help the Kremlin’s interests in Eastern Europe. But as Russian President Vladimir V. Putin landed in Saudi Arabia Monday for a state visit to one of America’s most important allies, it appeared clear that Mr. Trump’s moves in recent months were helping him make the case that Moscow, not Washington, was the more dependable actor on the world stage.

You miss the point.

Russia is doing nothing that is not in Russia's self-interests.

Russia is not looking out for the Kurds whom we have betrayed.

And... you have no idea what Russia's goals there are, but you can bet that they don't include looking out for American interests.

Nor have you yet explained what our compelling interests were that required us to betray the Kurds.

The US does not want Russia to do more in the Middle East.

And if the President of the United States was looking out for the security interests of the US, our Middle East policy would reflect that.  Instead, we are hastily abandoning bases so that the Russian's can take them over (along with glean intelligence from whatever was left behind.)

It is well established now that our "president" is not looking out for the security interests of the US.  He is looking out for his own interests.

Again, if that is't clear to you by now...

Of course they don't.  They want Assad to be able to freely take over northern regions of Syria that were under Kurd control.

Russia helped elect the racist "president" that kiidcarter8 adores.  He sees them as an ally with shared goals.

Convincing him that those goals are not in the service of American interests is like trying to convince kiidcarter8 that Trump is corrupt.  He isn't actually concerned with corruption, so what is the point?

This was released last week. I took some key parts of the findings, but the whole section should be read by every American voter.

REPORT
of the
SELECT COMMITTEE ON INTELLIGENCE
UNITED STATES SENATE
on
RUSSIAN ACTIVE MEASURE;S CAMPAIGNS and INTERFERENCE
in the 2016 U.S. ELECTION
'
VOLUME 2: RUSSIA'S USE of SOCIAL MEDIA
with ADDITIONAL VIEWS

II. (U) FINDINGS
1. (U), The Committee found, that the IRA sought to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential
election by harming Hillary Clinton's chances of success and supporting Donald Trump
at the direction of the Kremlin.

... (3 paragraphs skipped by me, plus one that is redacted)

2. (U) The Committee found that Russia's targeting of the 2016 U.S. presidential election
was part of a broader, sophisticated, and ongoing information warfare campaign designed
to sow discord in American politics and society. Moreover, the IRA conducted a vastly
more complex and strategic assault on the United States than was initially understood.

The IR.A's actions in 2016 represent only the latest installment in an increasingly brazen
interference by the Kremlin on the citizens and democratic institutions of the United
States.
... (more skipped and redacted)
3. (U) The Committee found that the IRA targeted not only Hillary Clinton, but also
Republican candidates during the presidential primaries.
... (skipped the rest of thepara)
4. (U) The Committee found that no single group of Americans was targeted by IRA
information operatives more than African-Americans. By far, race and related issues
were the preferred target of the information warfare campaign designed to divide the
country in 2016.
... (skipped the rest of 4 and all of 5)
6. (U) The Committee found that the IRA coopted unwitting Americans to engage in-
. offline activities in furtherance of their objectives.
...(skipped the rest)

Trump was their man at the start.  Key thing to make note of.  This wasn't just "Putin didn't like Hillary."

Officials ignoring the White House order not to cooperate with the impeachment inquiry, and its only becoming clearer why Trump sought to stop them from talking:

Mr. Kent raised concerns to colleagues early this year about the pressure being directed at Ukraine by Mr. Trump and his private lawyer,Rudolph W. Giuliani to pursue investigations into Mr. Trump’s political rivals, according to people familiar with Mr. Kent’s warnings.

As far back as March, they said, Mr. Kent pointed to Mr. Giuliani’s role in what he called a “disinformation” campaign intended to use a Ukrainian prosecutor to smear Mr. Trump’s adversaries. Those included former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., Marie L. Yovanovitch, then the United States ambassador to Ukraine, and Ukrainians who disseminated damaging information during the 2016 campaign about Mr. Trump’s campaign chairman, Paul Manafort.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/15/politics/house-republicans-react-rudy-giuliani/index.html

I don't think today's news from Mr. Giuliani is going to make the nervous House GOP members feel more at ease, either.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/15/politics/rudy-giuliani-jon-sale-impeachment/index.html

Quote
Giuliani is also now parting ways with his personal attorney Jon Sale who has represented him in impeachment matters, Giuliani told CNN.

Sale will stop representing the former New York City mayor shortly, Giuliani told CNN.

Sale had been working for Giuliani after the House of Representatives subpoenaed Giuliani for documents related to the ongoing impeachment inquiry.

"Jon was helping me with assessing (the) congressional request. He will submit his letter and he will be finished with what I asked him to do," Giuliani said.

People close to Giuliani are advising him to hire a criminal lawyer as questions linger about his connections to two of his associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Furman, who were indicted last week for campaign-finance violations. Giuliani, who is President Donald Trump's personal attorney, has been resisting that advice, according to those people.

Giuliani did not directly answer whether he was looking to hire a new attorney for himself.

"If they take me to court I would then have to get another lawyer," he told CNN.

Or as the saying goes, "Lock him up!"
