Trump today:  Kurd's are worse than ISIS.  And also, they are much safer now.

This guy is totally lost.  Dangerously, murderously lost.

So you see the ethnic cleansing but characterize the operation as "admirable" anyway.

The House on Wednesday delivered a bipartisan condemnation of President Trump’s decision to withdraw American forces just inside Syria’s border, registering broad opposition in Congress to a move that has thrown the region into bloody chaos and unraveled Middle East policy.

Republicans and Democrats banded together to approve a resolution opposing Mr. Trump’s acquiescence to the Turkish assault against the Kurds, who have been crucial American allies in the fight against ISIS. The measure passed, 354-60, not long before a bipartisan group of congressional leaders was slated to meet with Mr. Trump to discuss the incursion, and hours before Vice President Mike Pence and Mike Pompeo, the secretary of state, were to travel to Ankara, Turkey to call for a cease-fire in a battle the president appears to have greenlit.

“At President Trump’s hands, American leadership has been laid low, and American foreign policy has become nothing more than a tool to advance his own interests,” said Representative Eliot L. Engel, Democrat of New York and the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee who introduced the measure. “Today we make clear that the Congress is a coequal branch of government and we want nothing to do with this disastrous policy.”

Clearly, firebombing your own bases to keep the intelligence and material contained there from enemy hands (in this case, a supposed NATO ally) is a totally normal thing to do when a withdrawal has been in the works for months:

On Wednesday, the U.S, military carried out airstrikes to destroy the Syrian headquarters of the American campaign to destroy Islamic State after rapidly pulling Americans from the base, current and former U.S. officials said.

The decision to destroy the base, which included warehouses used to train-and-equip the Kurdish-led fighters, came after Turkish-backed forces moved on the facility on Tuesday.

Wow -

an 8-year old's honesty could show they jumped the gun on "murder"

The 28-year-old woman was playing video games with her nephew in the back bedroom of the home when they heard noises coming from outside, the document says.

She then pulled her handgun from her purse, her nephew told police, and raised it. She was pointing it toward the window when she was shot and fell to the ground.

While I realize you would excuse the police for killing any POC, perhaps short of a gangland style execution,  you may want to take a look at what actually constitutes murder.

kiidcarter8 fully supports Texas' Castle Law.  You just have to be White, of course.

KTLA 5 News

1 hr ·

Nearly 1 million children could lose their automatic eligibility for free school lunches under a Trump administration proposal that would reduce the number of people who get food stamps.

https://ktla.com/

-------------

The children should all receive a free breakfast and a free lunch at school. Just good healthy stuff, no Pepsi or anything, just fruit and vegetables, and bread and meat, and milk, etc. Fruit is cheap, it hardly costs anything to give a kid an orange (California grows oranges, so we support local growers, and California helps to feed the world), and it sure is a big deal for the children.

And there are programs such as UNICEF in war-torn countries making sure that the children eat. We can for sure guarantee that the children eat healthy here in the USA.

Stop trying to save money by making children go without food. Maybe you can stop giving military equipment to Pakistan or something to save money. Stop giving money to people who hate us, and then we can use the money to do important things like making sure that our children eat healthy meals.

We need to have our priorities in order, and our number one thing should be to raise good healthy children. Making sure that children eat needs to be at the top of our list.

Salute,

Tony V.

Castle doctrine applies in Texas, and the officer failed to announce his identity, a basic violation of procedure.  She had no means to know he wasn't a prowler.  He is therefore responsible for the resulting situation, and her death.

Manslaughter may be warranted here.  Then they decide if he was reckless.

But with the charge of murder peace is at least temporarily restored

What did the president say?

Earlier reports suggested the president said Turkey's operation in Syria was "not our problem". In fact, Mr Trump said: "They have a problem at a border. It's not our border. We shouldn't be losing lives over it."

Mr Trump said he saw the situation on the Turkey-Syria border as "strategically brilliant" for the US.

"Our soldiers are out of there. Our soldiers are totally safe. They've got to work it out. Maybe they can do it without fighting," he said.

"We're watching and we're negotiating and we're trying to get Turkey to do the right thing, because we'd like to stop wars regardless."

The president also said that the Kurds are "not angels".

"They fought with us. We made a lot of money for them to fight with us, and that's okay," he said. "They did well when they fought with us. They didn't do so well when they didn't fight with us

Mr Trump added that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) - a rebel group that fights for Kurdish autonomy in Turkey - "is probably worse at terror and more of a terrorist threat in many ways than" Islamic State.

President Trump also told reporters that he did not give Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan a "green light" for the operation, insisting that he wrote a "very powerful letter" to Mr Erdogan after speaking to him on the phone about the incursion.

On Wednesday, a letter emerged dated 9 October - the day Turkey launched its offensive - in which Mr Trump wrote to President Erdogan: "Don't be a tough guy. Don't be a fool!"

"You don't want to be responsible for slaughtering thousands of people, and I don't want to be responsible for destroying the Turkish economy - and I will,"
the letter said

Erdogan's move.  He will be cautious, I'd think.

New border crisis - maybe should have been an issue at last night's debate

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50050467

Is this type treatment by US used as a deterrent to future behavior?

"Let's be gross and inhumane as a way of keeping people from Britain out of our country!"

Sounds legit, right?
