Might want to seek another source for your enlightenment, kiidcarter8.  For example, pointing out that your news organization has never officially endorsed a candidate is not a measure of your independence when you are known to be the biggest buyer of Pro-Trump ads on Facebook outside of the Trump Campaign:

Yeah...I dont care about that part.  If they are pro Trump, good for them.

Nothing like watching our retreating forces have stones and rotten fruit thrown at them by people who were once our allies and under our protection.

Sure our troops feel great about it.

Of course that doesn't get to the law, and a big part of the law is record-keeping.  Otherwise I find it interesting that Trump officials communicate by email up to a point and then when things get dicey, they say let's stop discussing this here (in writing) and talk on the phone (where no record will exist).  It's probably standard DC practice, but also somewhat shady.

I'm sure someone has a record of our "president's" cell calls.  Just might not be us.

Add to that their widespread use of WhatsApp which also doesn't leave a record.  Its actually full on crazy that Jared's use of it hasn't been more of a scandal considering what happened with Clinton.  He's Senior Adviser to the man elected to be President of the United States, in charge of peace in the Middle East, and privy to anything the President knows, whatever his official security clearance.  And he's chatting like a teenager over an untraceable personal messaging app, with one of his buddies being the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia who has bragged about having Kushner in his pocket, has said he was given an "enemies list" consisting of CIA classified info, and oh yeah, has chopped up a journalist working for an American paper into tiny pieces.

We had over a year of Emails (!) but I don't know that there has ever even been one article that did more than mention this fact in passing.

.  Add to Kushner the fact that Trump uses unsecured cell phones, and the Ukraine scandal has revealed that multiple State Dept. officials also use personal emails and messaging for official business.

Personal emails, hell, Trump uses his personal lawyer to conduct official business with Ukraine.  Leading to pretty obvious conflicts of interest (and impeachment proceedings).

As for keeping gov't info safe, my memory is getting a little hazy, but wasn't it confirmed that the State Dept servers were targeted for multiple times and hacked into to some degree, while I've never heard of Hillary's server having been breached.  I'll have to check on that, but that's what I recall (which was of course a non-story).  I seem to recall watching a debate and waiting for Hillary to mention that the State Dept was hacked an dher server never was ...

It’s standard DC practice when you’re engaged in shady shit and not bright enough to just call your boy and say “ix-nay on the ex-tays!”

Thank god these clowns are really fucking clowns.

Falun Gong is the weirdest star in the conservative firmament - usually, compassionate Buddhists do not tend to align themselves with corrupt autocrats.   Their beliefs about Trump are bizarre.  Kid, here is a bit of information for you....

Quote
Behind the scenes, the media outlet’s ownership and operation is closely tied to Falun Gong, a Chinese spiritual community with the stated goal of taking down China’s government.

It’s that motivation that helped drive the organization toward Trump, according to interviews with former Epoch Times staffers, a move that has been both lucrative and beneficial for its message.

Former practitioners of Falun Gong told NBC News that believers think the world is headed toward a judgment day, where those labeled “communists” will be sent to a kind of hell, and those sympathetic to the spiritual community will be spared. Trump is viewed as a key ally in the anti-communist fight, former Epoch Times employees said.
  -- NBC news

You really have to wonder about the mental health of people who think Donald Trump is an ally in the fight against totalitarian communism.   Their symbol is also a wee bit unfortunate, though I recognize that the Hindus had it first.

As we learned from the Bush administration, Kiid will get behind any terrorist with a white face and a will to power. Drug history, business failures, obvious ignorance and criminality don’t enter into his thinking at all.

It's been a while, but I don't think FG is Buddhist at all, though they do borrow and use some Buddhist teachings.  I think to Buddhists, they are weird heretics.  FG is more a blend of Taoism and qigong (Chinese  breathing exercises, a mystical offshoot of Chinese traditional medicine.  Elite practitioners of qigong are said to be able to levitate or fly some, which I think is the origin of such behavior in martial art films).

Speaking of such, I was drinking wine at a French Week festival in Shanghai Friday night and this young Chinese guy with a long thin double-pointed chin beard started talking to me about Chinese traditional medicine.  Then by checking both my pulses at once he proceeded to detail some failings of my spleen.  Kind of like a palm-reading health check-up.  I was bemused, but didn't really comment at all, just let him do his routine.  Apparently he's also a practitioner of acupuncture, but I rarely let people stick needles in me.

I haven't been much up on Falun Gong the past decade plus, but the government roundup and reeducation camps for them was like a warmup for the Western Muslims.  I assume because FG has been defeated in China and is mostly an exile phenomena overseas now, that thye needed to do something to keep members active and engaged.  it sounds like they borrowed some end-times rhetoric from the fundamentalist Christians.  But again, I wasn't aware of that.

I do use their freegate web proxy to get to blocked sites in China.  And occasionally they have interesting critical articles on China on Epoch Times.  But I probably haven't gone there in half a year.  previously there would be a half dozen ET headlines below the Freegate search bar, and I might click on something.  But since those links are gone, I haven't been to E Times in quite a while.

That could well be.  A wiki entry described their beliefs as of a Buddhist school, but also with Taoist teachings....

Quote
Falun Gong is a Chinese religious spiritual practice that combines meditation and qigong exercises with a moral philosophy centered on the tenets of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance (Chinese: 真、善、忍). The practice emphasizes morality and the cultivation of virtue, and identifies as a qigong practice of the Buddhist school, though its teachings also incorporate elements drawn from Taoist traditions. Through moral rectitude and the practice of meditation, practitioners of Falun Gong aspire to eliminate attachments, and ultimately to achieve spiritual enlightenment.

I tried qiqong for some years (though my gong had not yet fallen and required retuning), and still do a couple of the basic moves, which I find very energizing.  For me, healthwise, nothing beats a good hike, and my spleen is always happy afterwards.

I can certainly see Buddhists wanting to disown Falun Gong, especially after its ardent support of Trump.  Really, any religion can foster flakiness that ends up completely at odds with the original vision.  Look at all the so-called Christians who have put their seal of approval on Trump, a man notably unChristian in every aspect and fibre of his being.

But from the start FG was always an eclectic amalgamation of qigong and Daoism, with some elements of Buddhism thrown in.  It wasn't some sort of Buddhist splinter group, but just took a a few Buddhist concepts and grafted them to a larger belief matrix.

The funny thing was that FG practitioners in China were mainly middle-aged folks, housewives and grandmas in tennis shoes, who wanted some discipline and tradition and spirituality in their lives.  Fill in that Market-Leninist void.  Very unlikely villains, and their attention to politeness and neatness actually dovetailed nicely with then leader Jiang Zemin's call for "spiritual civilization."   So they should/could have been natural allies of the gov't, but like most authoritarian gov'ts, China doesn't permit any large organizations and alternative power centers to form.  If FG was less organized, decentralized, without a single leader, it might have flourished with official approval.

otherwise, thanks for that FG info.  I wasn't aware they had veered so far right, and had become big Trumpeters and r-w conspiracy theorists.  I think I caught a little of that, but as I say my interactions with ETimes mostly faded the past two years.

Pierre Delecto?!

I love that in the few texts Pierre wrote, he defended Romney from attacks.

We've seen that here, before.

Not quite up to the implied porn star standard set by Carlos Danger, but not bad for a devout Mormon.
