Violent rhetoric about an impending civil war is on the rise, said J.J. MacNab, a fellow specializing in anti-government extremism at George Washington University’s Program on Extremism. “It used to be just the militia guys saying this stuff, and now it’s gone totally mainstream,” she said.

She pointed to a YouTube video posted in June that drew 1.4 million views. The video detailed how the electrical grid in “major leftist cities” could be taken down, and concluded that another civil war was inevitable and would be won by the right wing.

Meanwhile, inquiring minds want to know how Ward feels about Donald Trump calling his GOP opponents (some of whom are not the Never Trump folks he claims they are) "human scum."

Is that a less negative term than "deplorables" or is it more negative?
The answer.to your question is, Red got a tax cut.
S and P in record territory along with continued long term gains in the Dow and NASDAQ. Hope you have been investing wisely.

So Nancy relents to GOP pressure and will call for a House vote to proceed with “ public” hearings in an impeachment process. What else could she do when her  critics have been right but she refused to concede their point?
So she throws MSNBC, CNN, and the NYTimes under the bus for her previous skip-the-vote stance.

Lindsay Graham takes a well deserved victory lap.
Heh. She just kicked away the last Republican defense.
LOL. Using secrecy to skirt responsible governing wasn’ t moving the political arrow toward impeachment. Pelosi is smart enough to realize that Adam Schiff behind locked hearing doors and selectively leaking would never turn 20 votes in the Senate.

Sad the way it gets misunderstood . . .

What ever helps you sleep nights. But the process was the last defense, and it is gone. Enjoy attacking the character of Purple Heart vets.

LoL.  "Secrecy," as in bipartisan committees that released the opening statements of their witnesses every day.   What a pathetic pack of liars you all are.  47 House Republicans with access to all documents and depositions.  Some of whom didn't bother to show up.

I think that it has become increasingly obvious that using that well-worn example, IF TRUMP SHOT SOMEONE ON 5TH AVENUE, that Perry Mason could not get 20 Republican Senators to convict him of anything.

The confidential collecting of depositions and evidence is entirely legit and as has been refernced before, has been used by the Republicans in the investigations they have led.

None the less the greater transparency of the the impeachment inquiry and the public hearings will educate Americans who will hopefully hear the case for, and the case against, and make a reasoned decision, not only on the president, but on the House and Senate.

IMO if the past is any predictor of the future, the Republican Trump enablers will be shown in a very poor light, but there will be enough light for the vast majority of Americans to see the Republicans for what they are, duplicitous cowards with no moral backbone to stand up to a corrupt and inept President who weakens us as a country every day.

Now Trump may not get convicted, after all finding 20 Republican senators with guts to do the right thing may be impossible, but the price may be extraordinarily high for Repubs, and I suspect they will come up very short when its time to pay it in November 2020.

Ukraine matters.

Giving Trump credit for a successful raid that happened despite the chaotic Syria pullout that almost sunk it (and his betraying and badmouthing of the allies that made it possible) is a bit like giving Trump credit for the markets despite his tariff policies that threaten it.

More an example of how Trump's malign influence can be overcome than his leadership actually leading to positive outcomes.

Secrecy probably helping the GOP at this point, given that it seems they are spending most of their question time during these depositions trying to out the whistleblower, not raising any substantive counters to damning testimony.

But public testimony coming soon.

Approve-disapprove stands at 40.6-54.1. Nice try though. For republicans it’s worse than you think. For Americans they are better than you give them credit for as evidenced by our growing rejection of trump and all slimy republicans.

The White House can’t muster a substantive defense of President Donald Trump’s behavior regarding Ukraine. Democrats more or less gave way to Republican process complaints about impeachment on Monday. So with few other options left, Trump and his allies are returning to the mode that got him elected in the first place: toxic xenophobia...

--David A. Graham, in The Atlantic

And don't forget massaging landline poll numbers, as if poll numbers have any power to alter damning facts.
