HUD promotes official at center of racial scandal

Quote
HUD is promoting Eric Blankenstein, the former CFPB official whose racially charged blog posts sparked an uproar last year.

Blankenstein will become the acting executive vice president at Ginnie Mae, the government-run corporation that promotes homeownership, according to an internal agency email obtained by POLITICO. Blankenstein currently works in HUD’s Office of General Counsel on Ginnie Mae matters.

Poor reporting

lets see the posts

"At center" of scandal is also inaccurate

So funny.

No support, just opinion.

What?  Kamaka (4%) says she will WIN IOWA

Even Mayor Pete, polling just a point off the lead - isnt that bold.

So, is it between Pete and Bloomy?

I am more believing Bloomberg is entering than I was just a short time ago today, but I still don't think he is going anywhere, so no.

Given recent developments we should at least be thankful he was not given a lifetime appointment to the.Court of Appeals. Yet.

If the "pro-life" folks truly wanted to reduce the incidence of abortions, we know how to do it.

But mostly they seem to want to control whether or not women and men are having sex together, despite protestations to the contrary. (And yet, they also don't want to allow homosexual sex. Maybe they just don't like folks to enjoy themselves?)

What does "I'd like you to do us a favor" sound like with different tones applied to it?

Ask Ian McKellan and Helen Mirren.

Re the Salon article....could there be cult deprogramming camps for them?

Meanwhile, is it time to talk about SCOTUS judges recusing themselves on certain issues?

https://www.newsweek.com/supreme-court-justices-brett-kavanaugh-samuel-alito-urged-recuse-themselves-lgbt-cases-1470290

"The credibility and impartiality of the current Supreme Court is in tatters," writes Belkin in the letter. "Posing for photographs with the president of an advocacy organization that has filed briefs in matters pending before the court makes a mockery of Chief Justice Roberts' assertion that a judge's role is to impartially call balls and strikes."

"If you refuse to recuse yourselves, this incident will further illustrate the urgent need for structural reform of the Supreme Court in order to restore a Court that understands its role is to protect individual rights and our democracy," the letter ends.

https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/impeachment-inquiry-11-08-2019/index.html

Now Trump says that the House should not hold public hearings!

It is too damned funny listening to him and his buddies trying to spin the impeachment stuff this way and that. Deep state! Never-Trumpers! Plot by the Democrats! Everything needs to be transparent! Things are being too transparent! I don't know them! There was no quid pro quo! Well, yeah, there was, but it isn't impeachable. Only bribery or treason or high crimes and this isn't. Okay, it might have been bribery, but that's not the type they meant. Wait, no, neither is giving Senate members money to not vote against me!

And of course, "I never settle lawsuits.""I will never settle this case." "We didn't settle this case.  We are just making a $2 million donation."

One of the best analyses I've seen on the loyalty of working class people to Trump, and how important it is for Democratic candidates to focus on bread/butter issues and not condescend.  (I think Mayor Pete is finding his way, in this regard...)  The writer, Timothy Egan, talks about his sister, who works at a WalMart in eastern Oregon and feels dismissed by the Democratic party.  Really gets at the psychology of the swing voters who swing to Trump.
