Gabbard is a Russian agent!

Quote
“I’m not making any predictions, but think they’ve got their eye on somebody who’s currently in the Democratic primary and they’re grooming her to be the third-party candidate,” Clinton said. “She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far.”

Since then named. But "Russian agent" wasn't what was said, troll.

You can't be that stupid.

You need to control yourself if you want any kind of back and forth...

It's not as if you engage in a discussion of events, Kid. An article gets posted and you either thank the poster or claim it is incomplete or some other dismissive thing unless it matches your perspective.

But since you already admitted being a troll, I don't suppoe it matters what we say to you.

Over 300 pieces of legislation on hugely important issues like election security and co.mon sense gun reforms that Senate Leader Mitch McTurtleface refuses to bring to the Senate floor? Or.was.that a rhetorical question?
No.
But thanks for playing.
So it.was not rhetorical.  My first response stands then. The Democrats in the House have a record of solid achievements on important issues that have been ignored by the Repos in the Senate. A tremendous argument to oust those Republicans.
Thats what people are asked to do in democracies.
Have at it.

Your party going to stop trying to stop folks from legally voting this time?

Seems unlikely.

The Party of Stupid (and of misunderstanding what religion is about, too) strikes again.

https://local12.com/news/local/ohio-house-passes-bill-allowing-student-answers-to-be-scientifically-wrong-due-to-religion?fbclid=IwAR1-tm0-123OhR_e0zIo-eI59tT_x0aqZZWdimhhsQSLQwj9gBemYBdrcAY

Every member of the GOP in the Ohio House supported this bizarre and absurd bill. The Senate is controlled by the GOP. I fear for their children's future.
Why?

To permit giving bogus answers in order to allow people to give answers that are acceptable to the religious leaders - "religious freedom" is the excuse. It is modeled on a law from Mississippi in 2013 and that one is stupid, too.
Bogus answers?

Is the Earth flat? Yes. (Okay, under this law.)
Did dinosaurs coexist with humans? Yes. (Okay, under this law.)

Are you  really that dense?
Obviously you are incapable of understanding the law.

Quote
Sec. 3320.03. No school district board of education, governing authority of a community school established under Chapter 3314. of the Revised Code, governing body of a STEM school established under Chapter 3326. of the Revised Code, or board of trustees of a college-preparatory boarding school established under Chapter 3328. of the Revised Code shall prohibit a student from engaging in religious expression in the completion of homework, artwork, or other written or oral assignments. Assignment grades and scores shall be calculated using ordinary academic standards of substance and relevance, including any legitimate pedagogical concerns, and shall not penalize or reward a student based on the religious content of a student’s work.

Where in that do you see contradiction of what I said?
In what you just posted.
Of course that assumes you can process what you read.

Yawwnnnnnnnnnnn

Expected a nice sumup at least of the day's testimony.

Who was the star for each side today?

Was Schiff more Larry Miller or Kevin Spacey?  I can never decide.

I think he is more like Jack Webb.

Holmes said Sondland had responded that Trump cares only about "big stuff." When Holmes said that the Ukraine war was big, Sondland responded, " 'Big stuff' that benefits the President, like the Biden investigation that Mr. Giuliani was pushing," Holmes said.

Trump wants the discrepancy between transcript and readout to be Vindman's fault, but it really isn't.

https://www.gq.com/story/no-irs-audits-for-the-rich

Cut funding for the IRS, so they don't have the resources to audit complicated rich people's returns.  So instead they focus on auditing poor people, making sure they really qualify for the earned income tax credit and such.

Quite a racket.

Quote
Congress has steadily reduced the agency's enforcement budget by billions of dollars, down 25 percent from what it was in 2008.

The cuts are depleting the staff members who help ensure that taxpayers pay what they owe. As of [2017], the IRS had 9,510 auditors. That’s down a third from 2010. The last time the IRS had fewer than 10,000 revenue agents was 1953, when the economy was a seventh of its current size. And the IRS is still shrinking.

From the GQ article.....

Quote
This is part and parcel of a Republican political strategy otherwise known as "starving the beast." So-called "fiscal conservatives" like Paul Ryan claim that the federal government can't properly run basically anything, and use that as justification for cutting funding, support, and resources to agencies like, say, the IRS. Once an agency starts underperforming because of its slashed budget, that's used as still more evidence that government can't effectively do its job. Deliberately mismanaging the federal government, then, is a central tenet of modern-day conservatism....

I'm sure Grover Norquist is happy.

Also seems to be a similar approach in other departments, like State, Agri, EPA, and HUD.   Yovanivitch's testimony certainly speaks to a State Department being drowned in the ol Norquistian bathtub.

I always thought the main counter was to remind folks that the GOPers claim to love the Constitution but they dislike the very gov't it set up.  To be against the US Gov't is to be  against the Constitution and unpatriotic.

Then to remind folks that large corporations are immensely wealthy and powerful and only the Gov't is able to check their malign influences, including greed, amorality, pollution and other externalities, and these days lack of patriotism.

Drifting on a tangent, the Dems also can't let the GOP constantly bash the media.  And Trump calling the media the enemy of the people should be a major theme.  It's a signpost on the road to fascism.  The media is a key watchdog and cog in the system, and undermining factual information paves the way for misinformation and outright lies in which Trump specializes.  Undermining the media weakens and undermines America.  He needs to be called out for that.

Pelosi acknowledged that presidents are able to nominate and dismiss ambassadors. Trump “should not frivolously throw out insults, but that’s what he does,” she said. “I think part of it is his own insecurity as an impostor. I think he knows full well that he’s in that office way over his head.”

The media seem to have split off into these self-contained silos, alas.   So that those who should be made aware of his nakedly fascistic demonization of the Press are simply in the wrong silo to get the memo.   We no longer have a "most trusted man in America" as back in the Walter Cronkite era.  I'd nominate Judy Woodruff, but how many watch the PBS news hour now?  And how many outlets like that still have individual story segments that can run for up to 20 minutes (as PBS does) where you actually get a little education on a topic?  On print platforms, how many will read for 20 minutes or more on a single featured story?

If you want the masses to know what signposts on the road to autocracy look like, you need to tell them some history, and that takes time and attention span.

I'm not a glowing orb of optimism on this topic.

Americans watched, and many more read or talked about the Sopranos crime family and followed the exploits of the Lannisters’ misrule. The audiences were small at first, but grew and grew which tells me two things:

Trump world -inquisition island will not only keep its audience, but grow its ratings.

The longer it goes the deep and wider it will penetrate in the public consciousness.

There is no pressing need to halt or slow this phase of impeachment proceedings while there is still juicy evidence and witnesses to bring forward. Let the facts lead where they may and give them all a good airing out.
