Trump is holding up money for the border wall so Mexicans will stream over the border to illegally vote for him. That’s why none of the wall is being built and why the replacement fence can be defeated with a cordless saw.

It’s also why he sends farm aid meant for the Midwest to Brazil to start the caravans.

An interesting (paywall-free!) look at the great divide, as seen in microcosm at a New Jersey townhall meeting with a congresswoman....

On the shifting numbers in the Dem race...

Buttigieg keeps advancing.  The real question, for him going the distance, is to what degree the pseudo-Christians will automatically reject him (the whole living in sin with a dude thing) no matter how centrist he otherwise presents.  The moderates in that category may just decide they'd rather have a serial rapist and wife-cheater.

He’s gonna have a harder time appealing to black voters who contrary to media reports, don’t give a shit about his family. He’s got as hard a sell as Mike Bloomberg for their policies and effects of same.

Let me elaborate. A centrist moderate means you’re trying to appeal to a segment of the vote that hasn’t voted Democrat since 1964.

This is gonna be one hell of a primary.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch.

Ruskies still at work covering their tracks.

The Judiciary Committee should take their time in December to review documents. Announce that there will be hearings beginning in January. Don’t announce what they’ll be.

A centrist moderate means you’re trying to appeal to a segment of the vote that hasn’t voted Democrat since 1964.

They voted for Humphrey and then f'ing McGovern changed the rules and it's become the free-for-all zaniness we see today.  They also voted for Carter the first time around.

America needs someone who can walk upright, finish a sentence without fucking it up, not do crimes, and who can honor an oath.

This now rules out all Republicans.

 While you were sleeping;

https://www.heritage.org/asia/heritage-explains/how-china-taking-control-hollywood

The Chinese government only allows a small number of foreign movies into China each year, and after America, China is the number two biggest movie-going country in the world. So, it's only natural for American movie makers to try to please the cultural gate-keepers of the Chinese government. They've been doing it for years. In the disaster movie, "2012," humanity is saved because the Chinese government had the foresight to build life-saving arcs.
In "Gravity," Sandra Bullock survives by getting herself to the Chinese Space Station. That movie did so well in China, she went back and re-shot "The Blindside" with an underprivileged table tennis player.

China is on track to overtake the U.S. as the largest consumer of movies in the world. They love Hollywood, but do they love the same Hollywood we do? As most know, China is communist, and while they are somewhat economically open, there is still significant control over the content Chinese people are exposed to. It goes something like this, in order for the U.S. film to crack the Chinese market, certain themes cannot be portrayed, certain products must be taken out, and certain speech must be limited. Seems easy right? Not so much.

Hollywood is relying more and more on the Chinese markets to make profits on movies. That means our films are being written with China in mind.

American audiences are being submitted to censorship, not our own censorship, but a foreign power's censorship, and a Communist Party censorship.

Yes, China seemingly taking over the world one company, one farm, one industry, one country at a time.

http://www.salon.com/2019/11/27/are-lindsey-grahams-stupid-stunts-just-meant-to-keep-daddy-trump-quiet/

Nailed it.  Someday Carl Hiaasen will write a sequel chapter for Naked Came the Manatee, with Lindsey Graham the main character.

Mayor Pete, per earlier chat, has little chance.   Black voters, RWEs, and Dems on the Left are not inspired by him.   If you want practical, get-it-done mayors, what's wrong with Cory Booker?  I like his Baby Bonds idea.

Trump insanity - shrinks writing about potus's mental illness are practically a genre now.   Gonna need a new section in the bookstore.  All you really need is to grasp this simple equation:   batshit loony + nuke codes = bad.

I can see the case that a centrist moderate DEM could/should win.
Trump is so extreme and offensive that it should just take a competent centrist to sweep up the middle and walk away with it.

But Biden and Mayor Pete seem like the weakest options.
Biden is exactly the type of old school hack the DEMs tend to run.  A Mondale.  His candidacy seems based solely on name recognition, being a Friend of Obama, and being affable.   The gay military mayor is certainly an interesting story, but it's like Ukraine voting in a TV star who played a regular guy becoming elected president.

Uncle Joe and Mayor Pete seem like the type Trump would love to go against and steamroll.  I suppose this is exactly why Bloomberg jumped in.  He has name recognition and money, even if nobody outside NYC really knows who he is or why they've heard of him.  But it's easy to see a potential open path in the middle.  Just need Biden to slip.

It's unfortunate that Warren and Sanders are splitting the progressive vote.  If just one of them were in, they could wrap up support and money and possibly have a significant lead.
