The evidence of Trump's criminality and obstruction is just as stark as the evidence of Nixon's was.

Sure it is

When it proves not to be - in your mind it still will be.

How will it prove not to be?  You mean when the Senate inevitably acquits Trump?

McConnell declared even before the hearings ended that the Senate wasn’t going to convict:

https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/470957-mcconnell-cant-imagine-a-scenario-in-which-senate-removes-trump

He, Graham and others made a show of sticking their fingers in their ears during the public hearings, saying they weren’t paying attention to the proceedings.

Listen to what they are telling you.  Their decision will not be based on the evidence.  And that is my fucking point.  Politics and the Republican Party are not the same as they were fifty years ago, and the fact that Republicans could be made to see the obvious then says nothing about whether they should be able to see that now.

In fact they would have killed the impeachment proceedings as soon as it got passed on from the House if they could have, but they don’t have the votes to do that.  So they will set up a fake trial, drag Biden through the mud in a show of hearing all the evidence from “both sides” and then vote to let Trump off.

It’s been said by people on both sides of the issue; had Fox existed fifty years ago, Nixon would have served out his term.

Troll talking as if he had meaning.

The GOP was doing so badly that the rank member got interrupted by a member of his own party.

It's like this morning - all the GOP has are petty games to play, like forcing a vote to take a break.

Personal attacks, while decrying personal attacks.

Pretending that Schiff needs to be there to present his committee's material, when the ranking GOP member of Intelligence isn't there, either.

And Kid? He's impressed that because Mr. Collins and Mr. Gaetz can yell loudly, including in violation of the rules.

McConnell declared even before the hearings ended that the Senate wasn’t going to convict:

Right

And when they don't you will say it's only because we had more dedicated Republicans back in Nixon's day

It's all laid out.  No further need for discussion.

Dude, you are the one saying the Senate's decision will reflect the strength of the evidence when McConnell has already said he doesn't care what the evidence is.

Yeah, its all laid out.  By Republicans.  Your own people are telling you your argument is shit.

As long as Louie Gohmert is on "your" "team" the Republicans will "kick ass" in nothing.

Logic Crimes of the New York Times

Tim Blair, The Daily Telegraph

Formerly a newspaper of record, the New York Times has in recent decades become a newspaper of leftist causes.
Name any fashionable political trend and the New York Times is all over it.

Climate change is of particular interest to the Times, which in 2014 ran this headline: “The End of Snow?”

But five years later, the same paper reported: “A powerful winter storm socked much of Montana with a wave of heavy snowfall on Sunday, with weekend totals climbing to 40 inches in some places, and breaking century-long daily records.”

...is the Times’ theory, supported by a few local pundits, that Prime Minister Scott Morrison is somehow responsible for the fires and is able to stop both them and climate change.
“In some countries, such widespread environmental effects have led to changes in policy,” the Times notes.

“In Australia, however — where the air in Sydney was ranked among the worst in the world last month — Prime Minister Scott Morrison has resisted.”

What is he meant to do? Pass a law against bushfire smoke?

#####

After 3 days of NE winds...the wind has changed to a Westerly...and the smoke is back.
The fires are still burning, in the wilderness...no magic wand to wave...just gotta let 'em burn.
Living in the bush [scrub/woods/forest] or on the edge of it and within reach of a firestorm, is a risky business. Nice lifestyle...animals, land...until a fire comes.
The gum trees/eucalyptus trees explode as fire races thru the canopy...can't put these fires out with a 'garden hose'. [Fire truck hose v exploding canopy, fire hose got no chance even if trucks could get in there.]
Planes have no chance either if the winds are strong.
Hot, dry westerly winds from the desert fanning exploding canopies...the smoke ends up in Sydney/in east coast towns.
All our Christian Prime Minister can do is stand and watch like everyone else.
Be nice if Jesus could make a return

Nope.  Not required by law to have a trial.  They could have killed it if they had a majority of votes to do so.  They don't.

And yes, the Senate Majority sets up the trial process.  Roberts is the "judge", but only according to the rules and process the majority put in place.

McConnell speaks for his conference.  He knows the decision won't be based on the evidence.  Listen to what he is telling you.

Other reason Trump differs from Nixon?  Nixon’s scheme was consummated.  Support for the case against trump is limited (somewhat) by the fact that the damage done (outside of Ukraine) is still theoretical.

But what does the world look like without the Ukraine Whistleblower?  All laid out by the facts and the 2016 playbook:

First whiff we get of any of this is Zelensky appearing on CNN to declare that Ukraine is opening an investigation into Biden and their interference into the 2016 election.
Trump issues tweets “I’m shocked by the Obama/Biden corruption! Sad!”
AG Barr somberly declares that the Justice Department will support those investigations in any way they can (while coming up short on opening an investigation of their own) lending Ukraine’s declaration weight.
Nunes, Giuliani and co. selectively leak damning-seeming information to the press, so that right wingers and hack journalist can make it seem like there is something to the charge, and to keep it alive as long as possible leading up to the election.
REDSTATEWARD reposts those leaks every day on the forum, sure that a criminal indictment will come down on Biden any day now.
Biden’s Presidential ambitions will be finished, taking out the candidate who (Trump thinks) has the best chance at beating him in 2020.
The focus on Ukraine’s supposed interference clears Russia to interfere again however they see fit in 2020, a prospect that is welcomed by Republicans because hey, they are cheating for them after all.

All with no one having any idea that there was zero evidence of criminality to predicate any investigation of Biden or his son.  None.  No one would know that this all started with Trump forcing a country desperate for US support to read a statement written by Giuliani on American TV, after having weaponized the State Department to serve his own political and personal needs.  Not until it is well too late to put that genie back in the bottle.

You going to tell me Republicans would not be beside themselves with apoplectic rage if this play was run against them?  They would have literally blown up the WH.

But now they get to say “Hey, no biggie, we sent Ukraine (most of) the aid.  No harm no foul.  You know, Trump is just a really straight arrow guy super concerned about corruption.”  While they do the best they can to make it all happen anyway behind the scenes.

GOP would convict Trump if there was evidence?  One of the dumbest things ever said on this forum.

Toddler's issue is that he is either unwilling or unable to evaluate current events on his own.  My guess is the later.  He is used to waiting for FOX News or GOPers to tell him what to think, and as long as there is a Republican on the TV yelling, that means the Democrats are getting their asses kicked.  Scoreboard!

He can't assess the evidence as it has been presented so far, and construct a reasonable defense using his own brain.  For him the ends is the easy justification.  Trump isn't in jail, so, he must not be a criminal.

I mean, to be fair, Republicans in Congress can't defend Trump either.  But in their case their jobs depend on it.

NZ tourist disasters.
This time a volcano strikes.
What were tourists even doing there...even allowed to set foot on that island?

IMO NZ seems to take risks with tourists.

1976 mr and mrs bambu toured NZ by car.

Ended up on a glacier on foot, in a tour group.
bambu questioned in his mind the safety of it all. His mind thought it was not somewhere 'team bambu' should be.

Stoopid guide decided the group was 'late' and quickened his pace down the somewhat slippery small rocks/stones trail.
Yes, mrs bambu slipped and started to slide sideways off the trail and down towards a large black hole, never to be seen again.

As Divine intervention/providence ...or luck, take your pick...would have it...behind mrs bambu was a US Marine.
He took one step, planted his foot so he wouldn't slip, then reached out and grabbed mrs bambu, pulling her back to safety.
Gotta love the US Marines.

Then, his wife verbally attacked him:
Para; "That'd be right, save the pretty young brunette, and not me". Let him have it bigtime.
She, his wife, wasn't sliding to certain death, and was nowhere near him.
He was not happy...don't blame him.
Poor guy, he'd just saved a life and all he got from his mrs was hate.
Hope he ditched her when he got home and found another woman who really loved him.
