Doesn't say that much of the money wasnt also going to proper use

The wording of the piece makes quick jumpers like yourself think Trump used every cent for personal items/giving.

Thus when I said "Letitia is shutting down charities" - yes - in this case the good of the Trump Foundation gets eliminated - at least for the time being.  And some of you smarties will be first to note how little Trump and his family give to others if the post shutdown numbers come out.

You are a fool.

We've been following this story for years, Kid!

Quote
Most of the money in the Trump Foundation from 2001-2014 did not originally come from Donald Trump. Between 2001 and 2008, the president donated a total of $2.8 million, or 0.08% of his $3.7 billion fortune, to his own foundation. From 2009-2014, Trump gave $0 to the group.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/danalexander/2017/02/09/where-did-trumps-foundation-donate-its-money-irs-documents-reveal-surprising-answers/#4baed7617b52

"The good of the Trump Foundation" is mostly not due to Trump's money at all and those folks will find somewhere else to donate their money to. Comedy Central and NBCUniversal don't lack for places to put their charitable funds.

At what point of corruption do you say enough is enough, Kid? At what point do you say "what you are doing with this charity is breaking the law, we have warned you, but you keep doing it," to the perps?

Or do you keep letting them use it for personal purposes like an extra piggy bank?

Only if his taxes come out!

But given the $0 that Trump gave to his foundation for years and his only giving the money to the military (after running the event ostensibly for them) when he got caught, if he gives *anything* it will be a noteworthy year!

I can almost hear Jon Lovitz going, "Yeaaaah, a budget process thing! That's why I held up the money. That's the ticket!"

The GOP has released their newest lame excuse for why the money was held up.

Trump had Robert Jeffress speak at his White House Hannukah celebration Wednesday. Presumably to tell the celebrants that they would be spending eternity in Hell.

If you were reading a novel, a few years ago, in which there was a fictitious Trump administration, stuff like that would seem sufficiently incredible that you would classify the book as satirical fantasy.

Guess which person on the shortlist for Time's Person of the Year angrily tweeted an insult at the person selected for PotY?

What Did the U.S. Get for $2 Trillion in Afghanistan?

In a nation of 35M people, spent the equivalent of $5,700 per person per year for a decade.  Could have just given every Afghani a one time $28,500 and spent half the money.  A family of 5 getting $140K, not bad.

Of course most of the money went to bombs and fuel and housing US military personnel.  A good chunk towards training the Afghan army.  And a helluva lot being grifted and skimmed and defrauded.  My guess is a fairly small percent trickled down to regular folks, while a lot went to the elite and was transferred out of the country as personal fortune.

Think about wasting $1T per decade for two decades in Afghanistan.
You don't need to wonder much how a great power starts to decline.

Our country keeps illustrating how humans don't have any natural skill for forming and maintaining large nation-states.  Both ends of the spectrum of governance, free market Capitalism and Communism, end up relying on highly centralized control and concentration of power, albeit in different ways.  You either get oligarchs, or party apparatchiks and bureaucrats.  The reason nations like Denmark seem to do so well, in all the measures of happiness and quality of life, is because they're SMALL.  To really make their model work, we would need to balkanize the whole world. The UN would have about 700 members and include the nations of Missouri, Dakotabraska, and The Basque Republic.

Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.
