https://www.business-standard.com/article/international/will-target-us-military-sites-says-iran-jaishankar-voices-india-s-concern-120010600028_1.html

Iran says they will have a protracted response to the US assassination.

Trump vows to retaliate if Iran responds in any way. He says:
Quote
the US has identified 52 Iranian sites it would hit if Tehran retaliates against the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, stepping back from more conciliatory comments he made after the drone strike on the Islamic Republic’s most powerful military commander.

Flies in the face of "not trying to start a war" or Pompeo's having "repeatedly reaffirmed that the US remains committed to defusing tensions with Iran as he talked with officials across the West Asia and Russia."

The President threatened cultural sites, among others.

Conversely:
Quote
Major General Hossein Dehghan told CNN that Iran would retaliate directly against US “military sites”.

One of the problems with how this administration has conducted itself at the border is that when CBP tells us stuff, we have no idea if it is honest, mistaken, or a lie.

Which is it on this count? Did CBP detain Iranians and Iranian-Americans coming down from Canada? How could we know?!

Customs and Border Protection denied reports of Iranian Americans being detained and refused entry to the United States over the weekend after a series of social media posts claimed that Iranian Americans had been held for extended periods of time at a port of entry in Blaine, Washington, at the Canadian border.

In one post that was shared more than 24,000 times, activists claimed that CBP had been "ordered" to detain "all Iranians entering the country deemed potentially suspicious."

"Social media posts that CBP is detaining Iranian-Americans and refusing their entry into the U.S. because of their country of origin are false. Reports that DHS/CBP has issued a related directive are also false," CBP press secretary Matt Leas said in a statement Sunday.

Early Sunday, reports surfaced of Iranian Americans waiting at a port of entry at the northern border, raising concerns among lawyers and advocates over whether they were being held because of their country of origin.

heh

Oh, wait, he's serious?

We are back to square one with Iran, ready to sit down and iron some things out.

Currently - yes - that respect is 100% granted.

Still waiting to hear your source for the claim that we and they are "ready to sit down and iron some things out."

I suspect you are talking out your ass (again).

Read his sig. The fool boy is obviously smoking the double barrel crack bong again. It’s not good for his heart and it’s worse for his brain.

Trump thinks getting Jared on the receiving end of an armed cruise missile solves all of his problems not named Nancy. He’s wrong, but even an imposter can dream.

But why should Iran trust the US/Trump Admin at all?
Previously Iran sat down and worked out a comprehensive agreement with the US, EU, Russia to restrict Iran's nuke program in exchange for the lifting of UN sanctions.  By all accounts Iran followed the deal and the US reneged.  Iran was left with restrictions on its nuke program and destrcutive sanctions.  And Trump turned the screws by strong-arming the Euros into not doing business with Iran, effectively turning sanctions into an economic blockade.  The Euros were poised to extend engagement with Iran and rebuild and modernize Iran.  Trump killed all that cooperation, which the US had signed on to.

To recap, Iran sat down and made a deal in good faith with all of the key world powers.  The US unilaterally tore it up, and imposed economic warfare on Iran (from 10% economic growth to 13% contraction).  But now after bad faith dealings, treachery and assassination, we're somehow "back to square one" and Iran should just negotiate a deal in good faith with the trustworthy Trump Admin.

The mullahs who mostly opposed the nuke deal have been proven right.  You can't make deals with the US, because the US is dishonest and untrustworthy and in Israel's pocket.  Relying on the US to meet its commitments put Iran in a worse situation than before.

PS  I'm amused by all the post-mortems which lay everything that has gone wrong in the region at Iran's doorstep with Suleimani's fingerprints on them, while the US (and Israel) are benign fellows that barely get mentioned.

Funny - nowhere do you see, "my father was a great man - who accomplished ----------, stood for -----------------. believed in world peace............the world has lost a great statesman"

All about how - THIS IS THE CONSEQUENCE you have now enabled upon yourselves -.  All about firther evil hatred toward our nation.

Not how that works, Kid.

It really is.  The man killed was a higher up in said government and did not act admirably toward us now, did he?

Now he is gone - and we can start anew - if they wish.

(You don't hear Trump stating that there is more to come - just that there will be if they choose to once again act erratically)

Perfectly noble, sane and yes, ADMIRABLE stance on POTUS' part.  Many silently applaud - fearful of coming out loudly for concern it might further poke a bear.  That's fine.  The brave among us have taken a stand - and will continue in that world-bettering endeavor.

The “brave?”

You fucking idiot.

Kid won't read past the first 144 characters,  and will understand none of it.  Solid summary of our bad faith dealings with Iran.   And Kid thinks all these armchair warriors are brave.

Trump, threatening to destroy World Heritage sites,  a brave vandal who has a reinforced concrete bunker deep underground to hide in.   And,  yes,  what he has proposed is a war crime.   Which trashes not only international law but also whatever shred of our nation's claim remains to be supporters of decency and fair play.   Remember how we and most of the world condemned the Taliban when they blew up the ancient Bamiyan Buddhas?

In case you missed this;
The (London)Observer

A secret report, suppressed by US defence chiefs and obtained by The Observer, warns that major European cities will be sunk beneath rising seas as Britain is plunged into a ‘Siberian’ climate by 2020. Nuclear conflict, mega-droughts, famine and widespread rioting will erupt across the world. .
You
Climate change ‘should be elevated beyond a scientific debate to a US national security concern’, say the authors, Peter Schwartz, CIA consultant and former head of planning at Royal Dutch/Shell Group, and Doug Randall of the California-based Global Business Network.

Already, according to Randall and Schwartz, the planet is carrying a higher population than it can sustain. By 2020 ‘catastrophic’ shortages of water and energy supply will become increasingly harder to overcome, plunging the planet into war. . . .

Randall told The Observer that the potential ramifications of rapid climate change would create global chaos. ‘This is depressing stuff,’ he said. ‘It is a national security threat that is unique because there is no enemy to point your guns at and we have no control over the threat.’

Randall added that it was already possibly too late to prevent a disaster happening. ‘We don’t know exactly where we are in the process. It could start tomorrow and we would not know for another five years,’ he said.
