No need to ever stand for death to America celebrations or hostage situations or continuously sponsored terror attacks. Yes in the age of 9-11 and nukes one cannot be too PC. Peace in our time did not work for Chamberlain or Carter. The Ayatollah just got slapped around by his daddy.

Death to America demonstrations, or demonstrations of any kind,  are exactly what constitutional democracy is supposed to allow,  i.e. stand for.   Demonstrations have an entirely different moral weight from suitcase bombs or hostage taking.  That's not PC,  that's something called making obvious distinction between words and acts.

Maybe. Or maybe we wound up moving a step ahead on their overall longterm goal of eliminating US presence on and influence over Iraq specifically and the region generally. Nothing like assassinating a foreign official to solidify anti-American perceptions in a region that does not much like us anyway.

Phase II

Nice. Keeping alive the classic satirical art. Well done

Well,  yes,  there's that.  We are notably bad at the whole "winning hearts and minds" thing.  I fear that some Trumpism gets its momentum from a foolish disgruntlement with soft power.   Sometimes soft power not working means step away from power period not "Fuck it,  let's nuke Tehran. "  The Senate needs to back the House's nonbinding rez and not let Trump run wild over there.

Final:

The low resolution on this image makes it impossible for my droid to read the lettering.   I like your drawings,  but would like to be able to read the print.

LOL
Pelosi floated a meaningless political stunt to, in effect, say the Congress should tie the Presidents hands when he tries to respond to the next attack on Americans.
But was silent during the Obama years when he ordered hundreds of drone strikes killing thousands, including civilians, and also  a terrorist mastermind, Anwar al-Awlaki, who was an American.

State Department says Iran still biggest state sponsor of terror, spends $1B per year on proxies

Iranian proxies.
Hezbollah is one of the major political parties in Lebanon.
They also have a military force which is stronger than the Lebanese Army, and is the main deterrent to keep Israel form attacking./invading again.

In Syria, Hezbollah and the Revolution Guards operate at the invitation of the Syrian Gov't.  They've helped quell the rebellion.
And were helpful in stomping out ISIS in Syria.

In Iraq, a number of Shiite militias that Iran supports have been enfolded into the Iraqi army though they still mostly operate separately.  The Iraqi military leader killed with Suleimani was head of these forces.

Now, you and Trump might not like Iran or their friends, but in all cases they are operating legitimately within the legal frameworks of these neighboring countries.

I think Iran's involvement and funding for the Houthis in Yemen is exaggerated by the US and Israel.  Of course, we support and sell arms (death products) to the Saudis who are bombing the hell out of poor Yemenis, resulting in the worst humanitarian crisis today.

Somehow when the Saudis are doing it, it's not state terrorism.  Same when the US assassinates by drone a foreign country's general.  Suleimani was in Iraq by invitation.  Are US generals legit targets when they fly into Iraq?  (Iran hasn't done half the crazy ish Saudi Arabia has done the past few years)

How about when Israel bombs some part of Syria or Lebanon or Iraq, which they do frequently.  Isn't that state sponsored terrorism?  Or not, because it's our ally doing it.

Israel just bombed some Iranian allied forces along the Syrian/Iraqi border.  Watch out for Israel.  Netanyahu is beyond desperate.  And has been dying to get the US to go to war with Iran for a decade or so.  Wouldn't put it past Netanyahu to stir things up, bomb Iranian forces and try to get Iran to retaliate while Trump has brought US retaliation and war to the front.

I googled 'Hezbollah'.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hezbollah
Hezbollah (pronounced /ˌhɛzbəˈlɑː/;[36] Arabic: حزب الله‎ Ḥizbu 'llāh, literally "Party of Allah" or "Party of God")—also transliterated Hizbullah, Hizballah, etc.[37]—is a Shia Islamist political party and militant group based in Lebanon.
Hezbollah was conceived by Muslim clerics and funded by Iran primarily to harass Israel.

*

The group, along with its military wing is considered a terrorist organization by the United States, Israel, Canada, the Arab League,[41] the Gulf Cooperation Council,[42][43] Argentina,[27] Paraguay,[28] the United Kingdom,[44][45] the Netherlands, Australia, and Venezuela (Guaidó government).

[33] Germany and the European Union outlawed only Hezbollah’s military wing, and work with Hezbollah’s political wing and allow it to raise funds in Europe.[46]

#####

Hmmm.
You say Hezbollah is good [thank you for your above post, it broadened by knowledge].
US etc [including Australia] say Hezbollah is bad.
Maybe the truth lies somewhere in between.

Israel has a right to exist.
Palestinians could have had a two state solution long ago, but won't because they're intent on driving Israel into the sea?

Here is a way that we can stop Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions...

Iran is allied with Russia, so technically they already have nukes because Russia has nukes, so we just convince Iran to stop their nuclear ambitions and let Russia protect them on the issue of nuclear weapons. Russia already has nukes, as does China, and we just need to convince Iran to let Russia handle the nukes.

I wish that we never let Russia, China, Pakistan, India, and England have nukes, we should have kept our nuclear weapons secret. But the scientists wanted to balance world power. If the USA represents the world in our population, with all men being created equal, then we are the perfect super-power, and we should have kept the secret of nuclear weapons secret.

We need to stop the spread of nuclear weapons, and we need to get Iran to accept the status quo, and they need to get an ally with nukes to help to protect them. We have too many nuclear weapons as it is.

The same way that the Ukraine can depend on France on the issue of nukes, there is no reason for the Ukraine to worry about nukes, they are protected by allies with nukes.

And meanwhile, we have made progress on missile defense, and we have made progress on being able to detect nuclear weapons, we need to keep making progress.

We can also create a better world, and we can teach the children peace.

Salute,

Tony V.

Nazi Germany was on the way to making nukes.
All you need are the ingredients and a few good cooks.

Convincing Iran [or anyone else[ to do anything seems to me to be impossible.
The best defence for we in the West to have is the capacity to turn Iran [or anyone else] into ash in the blink of an eye.

If you’re speak8ng on Iran we had a damn good treaty until Trump blew it up for no damn reason beyond it had Blackenstein’s signature.
