"Who the hell cares about the budget?"

Dems have to make it clear that tax cuts only benefit the rich, harm the US with debt and less money to help people, of course never pay for themselves, etc.  Tax cuts are just used to enrich the rich and prevent the Dems form helping the middle class and poor.  This needs to be common knowledge.

Bo, there is a sizeable chunk of those who vote who seem unable to resist the simplistic slogans of lowering taxes and trickle-down economics,  no matter how many times the underlying theory is discredited.  Will Rogers coined the term trickle-down, as a disparaging term for what even in his day was considered the weakest idea of supply side economics.   I see no fix for the ignorance in this country,  due to the power of big money to buy political advertising and other propaganda machinery.   I don't see any party imparting real knowledge until our education system starts focusing more on civics and economics, and a little less on just "productivity" and "preparing a 21st century workforce."

"Who the hell cares about the budget?"

If you're going into debt to spend money on investments in the future, that's fine.  Interest rates re extremely low, so 30-year T bills to finance infrastructure repair and building is a good deal, and puts folks to work.  You know, the kind of thing that should have happened under Obama to reduce unemployment, give folks good paying jobs, fix crumbling bridges, roads, water systems throughout the US.  The kind of thing that helps make America great.

But just cutting taxes on businesses and th erich, getting less revenue, having the gov't go into debt and have to pay more debt service and get NADA is a bad deal.  And of course once the DEMs control the White House again, the GOP wills cream about the deficits again, and try to reduce SS, Medicare and prevent any spending that helps working class folks and the poor claiming there isn't money available, and the debt is an important issue.

We've seen this story before.
And the Dems never seem prepared or able to counteract it.  They should have been hammering the Bush tax cuts for years.  Instead Obama actually extended them for 2 more years during his term.  They should talk about the Clinton surplus.  An f-ing surplus!  That was pissed away while the US was in debt.  Even with the Trump tax dumps, the Dems haven't really demonized them enough, explained enough who they benefited, who got screwed, and how it harmed the US.

Dems have to make it clear that tax cuts only benefit the rich, harm the US with debt and less money to help people, of course never pay for themselves, etc.  Tax cuts are just used to enrich the rich and prevent the Dems form helping the middle class and poor.  This needs to be common knowledge.

Obama got chumped and stumped in this way.  Dems need to make sure the next Dem Admin doesn't get similarly hamstrung.
They should have linked tax cuts to the W Bush disasters and prevented Trump form doing it again.  But too late there.  A major fail.

You set a pretty high bar for Obama but don’t say shit about the Democrats in the Senate who knee capped the Administration by insisting on “reaching across the aisle” to a Republican minority who steadfastly maintained a position of NO to everything.

Obama did not possess the Green Lantern Ring of Power.

As for tax cuts, one problem is nobody actually likes paying taxes.  But many like the services that tax money provides (which is why gov't shutdowns never go the way the GOP think they will).
And the GOP is smart enough to rig the game and give out minuscule tax cuts for the middle class, when they offer up huge tax cuts for the rich and businesses.  So people fall for the 10 cent piece of candy while billions are being shifted to the rich.

The Bush tax cuts were terrible policy and Obama extended them for 2 years.  Even in real time, I found that flawed and indefensible.  While another 2 years of Obama's presidency was wasted worrying about budget concerns, with Obama himself making the truly dumb argument that the gov't finances were akin to a family's.  Great guy, mediocre president.  Overall, is whole notion of trying to compromise and meet the GOP halfway was misguided and proved a failure.

You have to give the GOP credit.  They back their man, even it's it's a shithead like Trump that most of them can't stand.  Hopefully the Dems will learn form McConnell's power plays the need to stick together and keep in line.  But also look at the genuine leadership Trump provides.   He has some clear goals.  He is a tireless campaigner and fundraiser.  And he uses that money to threaten those who don't fall in line and he's not afraid of supporting a primary challenger.

Dems need to learn some lessons from these ruthless chumps who have been beating them regularly.

A friend's sister lives at Leisure World, and it is a famous retirement village, she lives in the retirement village by Laguna Beach, she rides horses on the beach, and they have other activities. We need more retirement villages like Leisure World for people 55 and older. And we can get the homeless people who are of retirement age into retirement housing.

http://leisureworld.com/laguna-woods/about/

And in California City people can retire for even cheaper.

Getting our elders off of the streets and helping them would be great, and the disabled people can live with the retired people.

Salute,

You have to give the GOP credit.  They back their man,

No!

I do not give them credit for standing by their man, not because he's an ass but because he is an amoral crook.

They stand by him while he actively destroys people's lives, while he refuses flu vaccines, while he undermines the country's purpose...

No, no credit and I wish people would stop celebrating their willingness to support him regardless of the cost to the rest of the world.

On Pompeo:
Quote
Thomas Wright, director of the Center on the US & Europe at the Brookings Instit, said on Twitter. “He was promoted beyond his abilities because so many people were ruled out. The delta between what’s required & what he has is now on full display.”

The extent of Pompeo's lies wrt his meeting w/Ms. Kelly is becoming clear, as material is released.

It's just plain stupid.

Bo's choice of words led me to think he was not giving credit to the GOP in any regard except ruthless adherence to a shithead.   By my reading,  the gist was that we should strive for that level of party unity and ability to hit hard and campaign hard, without emulating the moral depravity,  dishonesty,  corruption and so on.

Sort of like Sean Connery's famous bit about what sorts of weapons you bring to a fight.

That said,  unifying 'crats is like herding cats.

The Bolton - Parnas two front offensive is going to get the GOP calling witnesses just to channel the bleeding.

GOP superpacs are all tied together and are all pulling at least half their balances from foreign criminal organizations and from adversary governments and their cutouts. This is the republican  community chest. This is the area republican Senators are most desperate investigations do not reach. Without its criminal support, the republican party would be as solvent as a trump casino on its last day.

They have no choice but to piss away their credibility obstructing documents and witnesses to protect their dirty money vulnerabilities. Which is why their credibility, favorability, and electability will all be long gone when their fraud and laundering are exposed months prior to the election.

No one will miss the republican party or its hacks, rats, kooks, operatives, and fanatics.
